James Johnson WILL be a first rounder. nbadraft.net is a good site, but their usually off with their draft predicitions.

However, James won’t be near the player Jeff Green is…

im a big fan of acc ball, seen Johnson play a number of times. I dont think he has off the charts athleticism by any means, Id say he is a good athlete. He shoots way to many threes for an off the charts athlete. He has a pretty well rounded game, can do alot at his size. I see Wilson Chandler, I also could see him bieng a little bit more of a role player version of Danny Granger. He seems a little bit of a tweener, but I think he could probably play some minutes at the 4 in a small lineup. He seems a little bulky though, he is very strong but might be able to stay in front of quick 3’s if he were 10 pounds lighter. People who have no business driving on him have taken him to the basket, and Im not sure if he is the type who can take over a game, for a guy who has all the tools he does, he seems a little content to let others control the game, kinda picks his spots which can be good or bad i suppose. Overall, like him think he has great potential and a solid first rounder.

yeah man, I love this site, aran smith and co. does a great job running it and putting up their mocks. However sometimes there’s too many knee-jerk reactions, and guys get put in places they don’t belong with a couple of good games or bad games. The posts prior to mine have done a good job describing his skill set. He is a bit of a tweener, and watching him on the perimeter sometimes, he doesn’t look to comfortable putting the ball on the floor, and mainly uses the triple threat position to make straight line dribbles to the hoop against slower collegiate 4’s. He would be best served using another year to round out his game in college. But anyway, theres really no reason he should be in the second round of the ’10 mock. Cmon, I’m not going to draft a william buford or a luke babbit ahead of johnson. Not saying they’re bad players, but not ahead of johnson, as he has a better body of work thus far on the collegiate level. I’m not worried though, they constantly updates the site so this shouldn’t be here for long.

Johnson would be a good pick for any team, he has a good skill set he dribbles and passes well.He can guard the 3&4 positiion and with his speed he can cuase some match up problems like David Lee does. I really think he’s somewhat under rated. Could be a steal for a good team with a low draft pick.

Big 3 who lacks perimeter skills (ballhandling), and small 4 who lacks quickness. A tweener in the mould of Ryan Gomes

There is no difference between James Johnson and Jeff Green.

James Johnson will be just as good as Jeff Green.

There is no reason to believe otherwise.

When you put the numbers up you definetly make your point, but IMO Jeff Green had a bigger impact in games. Georgetown was an elite team with him on the floor and have been sliding down that pole (hitting bottom this season) since he left. Johnson doesnt have that same impact for Wake that Green had for G-town. He is a piece of the puzzle at Wake and sometimes he’s hard to notice on the court unlike Teague and Aminu who stand out all the time to me (especially Aminu). I think he’s a first rounder in this draft but just because of the lack of super prospects this year.

The comparison is valid. If anything, James Johnson may end up better than Jeff Green.

Johnson doesn’t have the jaw dropping athleticism that would make him a sexy/popular pick, but his skill & versatility will make him a solid pick. He may never be more than a serviceable starter or super sub, but what more could you really hope for in the 10-20 range of a weak draft? There’s 150 starters in the NBA, and probably one third to one half of them are mediocre at best. The average draft therefore produces about 10-15 starting caliber players per draft. This draft will probably produce well short of that, similar to the 2000 draft. Some team will play it safe & go with the guy that has a higher floor, albeit if he doesn’t have superstar potential.

Jeff Green (# 5 pick) is got 16+ pts, and 6+ rebs, and he shoots 3’s like crazy.
My man Johnson is good, but he might not surpass Green.

James Johnson is already a better shooter than Green, check his game. He’s a legit 6’8 with 7 ft wingspan and has nice D to go with that package. I’m not saying he’ll be anything close to great, but better than Green is no stretch.

Green is almost a 40% shooter FROM NBA 3 point line…….. How is Johnson’s 3 point shooting at Wake????
