Undertakers first order of business

I’m very happy with the draft the Jazz ended up with, Kanter is a very skilled big and Burks has big upside.

         I think Big Al is the player the Jazz FO should be looking to move in a trade, we should be able to get 1 or 2 pretty decent players for him. He is a good low post scorer and those kind of players are in demand.  Granger for Big Al would be a good swap.

The Jazz make wait a while though to allow both Favor and Kanter to ajust to the NBA and prove they can be the scorers the Jazz would need if they trade Al.

I’m glad they didn’t draft Knight, he wasn’t what we need. I’m hoping Burks is allowed or pushed in the direction of playing point guard, his handles are good enough and he see the floor and passes well. Having a 6’6 point would be good.  Next yrs draft should provide more help either at the 3 or the point.

 If Alec Burks develops right and Enes Kanter gives you a beast off the bench.. Don’t be surprised if you see the Jazz an 8 seed.

I would consider trading Devin Harris to a contender.  Maybe the Heat for Chalmers (sign and trade) or Norris Cole being the center piece along with Joel Anthony (decent shot blocker, an ideal 4th big man), and Mike Miller, and a future first round pick and a 2nd round pick.

Or they could trade Devin Harris and Al Jefferson to the Lakers (who really need a good veteran point guard so Kobe can make one more run).  I would see if the Jazz could get Lamar Odom (ideal 6th man can play both forward spots), Devin Ebanks (solid wing player), Andrew Goudelock (shooter), Steve Blake (decent point guard who had a bad year and was probably in the wrong system), Shannon Brown (sign and trade), cash, and some draft picks for those two.

They lost two out of three games after dealing Williams, so they were more Sacramento than playoff caliber. The expectations shouldn’t be for the playoffs. I think Kanter will probably struggle to get through 82 games. The combination of his previous injuries and his time off is not a promising one. I’m willing to be wrong in that prediction, but it is hard to make the argument for him being a workhorse with his history. That said, it is hard to not be excited about his size and skill level. He could end up being great, but I think they’ll need to be measured in their minutes with him as a rookie. Also, given where the Jazz are at the 2-spot and their lack of perimeter scorers, I think Alec Burks will be in a spot where he might be in contention for ROY. It is going to be a low-producing class, and the big minute/possible production guys are probably going to be Irving, Williams, Burks, Knight, and Fredette.

 I don’t think his comparison is Jefferson he moves way better and is more athletic(look up there combine numbers) I’m also not sure that the Jazz will make the Playoffs next year they looked pretty bad after the D-Will Trade, but there definately on the right track.

 Also Remember Hayward shot 29% from 3 point in college and so did burks.  Now hayward is a good/great 3 point shooter. Don’t count out burks getting much better as a shooter over the summer and through the possible lockout.

The Jazz are very young now and should take advantage of it by playing a more up tempo game. The one guy who don’t fit is the plodding Jefferson.  Its unlikely the Jazz can afford to resign him anyways in two years with all their rookies coming off their rookie deals. Jefferson is the odd man out to me.

I think the Jazz will hang on to Jefferson long enough to allow Kanter and Favors to develop and then trade him, right now Kanter and Favors haven’t proven they can be the go to guy on offense. As soon as they start showing they can be that man, Jefferson will be expendable.
