GlenTaylorSucksParticipantAnd on the other hand…some teams didn’t do too well for themselves either.
I’ve gotta say, it’s the Knicks this year. Shumpert seemed like a huge reach, and Harrelson wasn’t even predicted to be drafted by a lot of people.

Hoops MaestroParticipantCleveland got two good players in Irving and Thompson, but could have walked away with Derrick Williams and Brandon Knight. I think everyone will prefer the latter two three or four years from now.

bigballinjdgParticipantI think the pacers, as a huge fan, had a very good player fall into their laps in Leonard and then Bertans in the 2nd round and traded them away for a solid bench player that looked better than he really is in a perfect system. That player being George Hill. And u know when u do a draft night deal with the Spurs association you are not gonna come out ahead

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantPacers… Kawhi Leonard and Davis Bertans for George Hill.

Hoops MaestroParticipantValanciunas has high bust potential. Even if he pans out, I think there are at least four guys taken later who will be much better — Brandon Knight, Kemba Walker, Jimmer Fredette, and Klay Thompson (nos. 8-11).

WizardofOzParticipantI agree with the Knicks.
And I’m not a fan of what the Cavs did because Thompson was a big reach IMO.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantI thought the cavs draft was average, but when you have the 1, and 4 you need to be great, and I don’t see it!

vcelts123ParticipantHow do you think minnesota did bad? Derrick Williams fell right into their lap. That kid’s gonna be huge. If they don’t keep, he’s gonna give them plenty trade options. Only problem is his lack of position, but if he can adjust to the speed of SFs then that makes that much more valuable. Minnesota can get a great veteran started for him.
Losers,
Cavs. shudda gone with williams and knight,
knicks, big reach, possible reward (last year ring a bell?).
kings. terrible trade. although honeycombs was a steak.
pacers. don;t trade with spurs, never ends well (as somebody pointed out)

Winning_TimeParticipantTimberwolves. Also George Hill for probably thinking Parker was gonna get dealed leaving him as the starter and now he’s gone from a winning organization and STILL has to back up a point guard better than him. Not to mention Singler, imagine him walking in the city of Detroit..

Ahkasi ClayParticipantDid Brandon Knight just do a Steve Francis?
hard to say a team did good, when they make a player cry by drafting them!

Memphis MadnessParticipantI don’t like what the Cavs did either but that’s what they get for taking Irving at 1.
Everyone knew that Williams and Kanter could go 2 and 3 so that would make it tough for the Cavs
if they took Kyrie at 1. And, Jonas is going to be in Europe for another year or two. So that would be a risk.
But, even then I would have thought about taking Vesely or Kawhi Leonard or Klay Thompson before Tristan
Thompson.I think Utah (Kanter and Burks) and Charlotte (Kemba and Biyombo) may have come away with better combos.
The Kings also did well with Jimmer and Honecutt. The Wizards got some good long athletes in Vesely and Singleton.

PulseGlazerParticipantKnicks picked poorly. Shumpert could be great (probably won’t), but why make Landry Fields untouchable in the Denver talks then grab his replacement? This is especially odd given how poorly Shumpert currently fits in D’Antoni’s offense.
The Kings were major, major losers. They took on a useless salary and now have a whole ONE reliable pg on the roster, and it’s one no one appears sure can stay at PG. Unless you’re a huge Pooh Jeter fan, what the heck.
Minnesota got Derrick, sure, but the trade had better come soon otherwise, well, who the heck knows what the landscape will be like in 7 days. Assets are great, but they basically gave away Flynn for a top 14 (!) protected pick. So much for maximizing those assets. Flynn was traded at the absolute nadir of his value.

dodgerParticipantI get it J. Johnson and E.Moore, had good careers. They are nice guys. How can draft picks help a team when they are playing for the Maine RedClaws? The celtics should have traded out of the draft or drafted a guy for the long term

delfamParticipantCleveland lost, Kyrie Irving is behind Davis/Sessions and Thompson is behind Hickson/Jamison. Unless they make some trades their two draft picks aren’t going to get enough time. Williams/Knight would have been a better combo.

JoeWolf1Yeah, I knew Shumpert was a possibility for NY, but with Singleton on the board I’m shocked they didn’t take him.

delfamParticipantWith Amare/Carmelo playing the 3/4 Singelton wouldn’t of got that much playing time anyway. Atleast Shumpert should play a lot at the 1/2

JoeWolf1He’d be a great defensive compliment for lineups where only Melo or Amare was in and the other was on the bench. I just think you get the best player available in that situation, but I get what NY was doing…I just don’t think you pass up a defensive talent like Singleton when you’re going defense with your pick
