    DraftExpress Jonathan Givony via Twitter.
“Not sure I quite believe this yet, but Minnesota is apparently telling NBA teams that they are taking Enes Kanter #2 over Derrick Williams.”

If this happens, then Utah will pick Williams. Any of you guys believing this? I mean, it makes sense because Kanter is a bigman but I’m not sure he is a good fit with Kevin Love.

Doesn’t seem to be much shot blocking or defense with that front court but great skill sets and rebounding. That would be great for Jazz to get Wiliams at 3 and Jimmer at 12.

What do Cavs do in that case if they can’t trade the pick? This makes me think they should take Williams at 1 so they can avoid this.

but i heard the Cavs were settling on Irving, so there best bet would be to take Vesley or Valanciunas at #4.
Brandon Knight would be most likely be taken by the Raptors, while Washington chooses between Vesley, Valanciunas, or Leonard.

I think this also could be a possible ploy on their part to see if drafing Enes Kanter brings any better trade deals than the threat of them drafting Derek Williams did.

I’m not buying it, I still say they go with DWill.

I think Love and Kanter could be a good fit…they would be a rebounding machine and kill teams of the boards. And they still have Darko coming off the bench for shot blocking…sounds good to me.

not a great fit, an athlete would be great to offset Love’s lack of foot speed, but in this draft Kanter is maybe the only sure thing at the 5 spot.  A Love-Kanter combo would dominate the boards, be very strong and fundamentally sound, but very slow on D.  But the Wolves need a 5 badly, and in a relatively weak draft, and a team that won 17 games last year, it would still be an improvement. And much better than gambling/waiting for any other project at center

I now believe what Cward23 was saying. Cward23 was saying that teams float out random names that they aren’t gonna pick so someone doesn’t take the guy they want. Its either this news is BS, the T Wolves actually will take kanter, or they are trying to screw the Cavs.

I think they’re doing it to see if the offers for Kanter are better than the offers they were getting for Williams.

I tend to believe you think that Cleveland has more of a separation between the perceived top 4 (Irving, Williams, Kanter, and Knight), and then those who follow than they probably do. I’m not sure that Cleveland necessarily concerns itself with whether Kanter is off the board, because they might have Tristan Thompson and Jonas Valanciunas ranked similarly. It is possible that what Minnesota wants is for Washington to ante up more to guarantee their chance to get Kanter. I don’t believe Minnesota could spin Utah into dealing up if the choice is between Kanter and Williams, but it is conceivable that Washington is high enough on Kanter to do it.

This is likely going to be controversial, but the Wolves should use this leverage to get Varajeo and #4 from the Cavs.  Varajeo is a great glue guy and a winner – exactly what the Wolves need – while the #4 they could take BPA, Jonas or even trade down again to a team that wants Kanter (Wash?) or Knight (Sac?) depending what the Jazz do.
