With the NBA Draft set for Thursday evening, the speculation, rumors and innuendo are flying around in full force for the Indiana Pacers.
Since the Pacers have the flexibility to deal with anyone and they are looking to address several needs this summer, it’s not surprising to see rumors pop up considering they are likely working through offers with several teams. Adrian Wojnarowski slipped an eye opener into his column today mentioning that the Pacers were offering Minnesota a package that included Roy Hibbertand the 15th pick for the 2nd overall pick. Of course, the Timberwolves are likely fielding offers for that pick from nearly every team at this point, but it does show that the Pacers are willing to part with anyone on the roster.
Pacers pres, Larry Bird will meet with the media at 11:00AM this morning in his usual pre-draft presser that dances around any substantive information and more likely tries to insert some misinformation. Pacers.com will have Bird first though, with an exclusive interview live streamed at 10:30AM.
After the jump, a few links of interest including stories on the important CBA meetings taking place today.
I thought this was an interesting trade and wanted to see what you guys had to say about it.

Stojakovicfor3ParticipantT-Wolves Keeping No. 2 Pick
Jun 21, 2011 10:23 AM EDT
Three days away from the draft, Wolves assistant general manager Tony Ronzone was asked Monday morning if he still expects the team to select a player with the No. 2 overall pick and keep him rather than make a trade.
"Anything can happen, but right now we’re going to keep 2," he said. "We like 2."
The Wolves own the second and 20th pick Thursday night. They are believed to be seeking a trade that would send that second pick and perhaps other assets away for a young center and a pick later in the first round.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantIf Hibbert is seriously the best they can do for Derrick Williams or Kyrie Irving (whoever ends up second), then Kahn needs to be straight up kicked out, and let the door hit his @$$ on the way out. Williams will be a very good player in the NBA, and the Wolves deserve legit talent for it back. I’m sure there are better offers out there than Hibbert.

apb540ParticipantI don’t understand why they would want to do this trade. Roy Hibbert showed some promise last year and plays the weakest position in the NBA. He is 7-2 and just plain huge, and he put up 12.7, 7.5, and 1.8 blocks per game last year. Why give that up, plus the 15th selection, for an unproven 3/4 tweener? Indy also has zero centers on their roster outside of Roy H.

mamadouParticipantYou’ll say it , they had only 2 bigmens under contract, big roy and psycho T, a quality starting C is a better building block for a team loaded with wings than a rookie tweener…
They’re in good position to build something, one of the better cap space in the league, 9-10 players under contract, 15th pick, some quality trade baits.

TRC1991Participant@firekahn
what are you talking about man? Roy Hibbert is 7’2”, 24 years old, and averaged 12.7 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.8 bpg last year…

651TwolvesParticipantespecially if they can get the pacers #15 pick with it and possibly snag brooks there for some perimeter scoring help. It’s no secret that we need a big defensive center to help compliment k loves game and I think Hibbert is a good fit. There are rumors saying that Kahn offered the #2 pick to the Lakers for Bynum, (which Buss would never accept) but I just think Kahn is seeing if he can get anyone a little better than Hibbert. but I wouldn’t be surprised if Kahn pulls the trigger on the Pacers trade.

doubledribblerParticipantSeems like every team is being rumored to be making a deal with Minnesota on that pick. I heard one rumor linking them with Andrew Bynum for the same pick on another site which I will not name. Assuming Williams is the option, I’m not sure why teams are so high on him. I liked the way Williams played throughout the year, but my biggest question with him is that he is a tweener. Those guys are typically the hardest to project and usually don’t end up as perennial all stars, but often guys that are useful in trying to get mismatches on offense. I wouldn’t put anything past Minnesota though. They could keep the pick and end up with a ton of guys at the same position, or reach on a guy for no reason at all. David Kahn works in mysterious ways.
Off the subject, but I hope to see a lot of trades go down on draft night. There are a lot of teams that need to shake things up, some need to blow up their team and others are a few pieces away from contending, while some teams are going to go into save money mode with the possible hard cap coming up.
