mikeyvthedonParticipantKansas could be a possible transfer destination for Arkansas transfer Rotnei Clarke. Brady McCollough of The Kansas City Star speculated recently on Twitter that KU could go after Clarke since: a) the Jayhawks recruited him in high school, and b) are in serious need of a 3-point threat on their roster.
Clarke is just that. A three-year starter with the Razorbacks, he was Arkansas’ leading scorer a season ago and would potentially be a key addition to KU’s backcourt. Clark has connected on 274 3-pointers in his NCAA career, shooting 39 percent as a freshman, 43 percent as a sophomore and 44 percent as a junior from long range.
Add that type of threat to Bill Self’s offense, and suddenly the Jayhawks can beat opponents in a way they otherwise couldn’t; the team’s top 3-point shooters from last season in terms of attempts — Tyrel Reed, Brady Morningstar, and Marcus Morris — have all moved on. As have freshmen shooting guards Josh Selby (NBA) and Royce Woolridge (transfer to Washington State).
Clarke would have to sit out next season per NCAA transfer rules, but could be a solid fit next to then-senior Elijah Johnson and then-sophomore Naadir Tharpe in KU’s 2012-13 backcourt.

I guess that he and Mike Anderson are not on the same page:

Seems like nonetheless Rotnei Clarke would be a nice addition for the Jayhawks, even if he has to sit out a year. For those not familiar with Clarke, the guy is a sniper. He lead Arkansas in scoring last year, and the year before he was second on the team behind Courtney Fortson. Also, in his first game of his sophomore year, he had 51 points, scoring 13 trey’s in the process. A few games later, he dropped in 10 from deep. He has not exactly been a model of consistency, but he is someone you do not dare leave open behind the arc. In three years at Arkansas, he has averaged 14.2 ppg while shooting 41.9% from 3 and 86.3% from the FT stripe. However, he is only 6 feet even and does not get you much else. Still, as a 3 point shooting specialist, you could do a lot worse than someone who has put up solid numbers in the SEC.

TRC1991ParticipantWow! This could be a huge get for the ‘Hawks. Clarke is an outstanding shooter and this situation is very similar to when Patrick Sparks transferred from Western Kentucky to Kentucky back in 2003. Smaller white volume shooter transferring from basketball afterthought to powerhouse with hopes of attracting national attention and wins.

JNixonParticipantYeah Rotnei Clarke is crazily good shooter. As a KState fan I would hate going up against him.

JoeWolf1That’d be a huge signing
They just signed Kevin Young too, a transfer from LMU, he sounds like he has a lot of upside and can play right away.
