    2007 NBA Draft:

    Top 5 Players:

    1) Kevin Durant: Top 3 player in the league with a lights out stroke and scores the ball in so many ways

    2) Al Horford: Plays center at the Hawks. He is more of a PF, but he is one of the top 5 defensive centers in the league

    3) Joakim Noah: Just like Horford he has become one of the best Defensive centers in the NBA and is hated and loved by many. Guy works hard everyday

    4) Greg Oden: Derailed by injuries, but is super effective when he does play

    5) Marc Gasol: Another center that has produced in the NBA.  Gasol showed this year that he’s not just Pau Gasol’s brother.  He has great passing ability and is a tough player

    5 Best Picks:

    1) Kevin Durant to the Sonics: I remember when nobody knew what was going to happen with the top 2 picks. Most expected that Greg Oden would go #1 bc of his Bill Russell potential.  There were many questions involving the potential of Kevin Durant.  Whether he was going to be the next "big thing" or was he just a college player that took advantage of his height in a small league.  Many thought he was too skinny to excell in the NBA.  Well 4yrs later, we now see that Seattle/Okc City was lucky that Portland didn’t take Durant from them.

    2) Jeff Green to the Celtics: This pick helped assemble the Big Three.  Jeff Green was traded for Ray Allen and then KG made his way to Bean town and the rest is history

    3) Joakim Noah to the Bulls: Noah is a top 5 defensive center in the league and gives defensive defensive effort every night.  The Bulls wouldn’t have had the top record in the league without him.  But man, his free throw form is UGLY!

    4)  Marc Gasol to the Lakers: This pick led to the infamous Pau Gasol trade.  This trade was ridiculous and helped the Lakers to their last two championships

    5) Aaron Brooks to the Rockets: Brooks was a former MIP and had some great yrs in Houston.  Unfortunately last yr he was plagued with injuries and lost his starting job to the tough-nosed Kyle Lowry and then eventually traded to the Suns.  I believe he will bounce back eventually depending on what team is going to pick him up.

    Top 5 2nd Round picks:

    1) Marc Gasol

    2) Carl Landry: Solid starter, and above avergage 6th man

    3) Ramon Sessions: Good back up PG

    4) Glen Davis: Solid bench player who was a candidate for 6th man of the year this year

    5)  Aaron Gray: Good back up center who played well against the LA lakers in the playoffs this year

Most Dissapionting Pick: Corey Brewer to the T-Wolves

Saddest Story: Greg Oden and injuries

Biggest Bust: Tie to Greg Oden/Brandan Wright

    Overall draft summary:

This draft contains one of the best players in the league, but after that, there’s not much to rave about in this draft.  In this draft there were some solid centers(Horford, Gasol, Oden, Gray, Noah) and some solid role players(Landry, Davis, Dudley, Affalo).  This draft contains about 3 all star players.  This draft also contains some busts such as Oden, Brewer, Yi jianlian, Brandan Wright, Acie Law, Julian Wright.  Overall il say that this draft was relatively weak.  With only 3 allstar calliber players and about 10 role players, i would say that this was a weak draft.  This draft will be more famous for it’s trades and of course, the coming of KD

As of today I would rather have Marc Gasol on my team than Greg Oden. That may change within the next three years or so, but right now Marc is more dependable.

Greg Oden, because of injuries and being drafted #1 has to be considered a bust and not in the top 5.

I dont think the Jeff Green pick was any good, but the trade for Ray Allen was a great move for Boston.

Mike Conley, Wilson Chandler, and Aaron Affalo are the next best outside of the top 5

greg oden is only 23… he’s still young and can still make a comeback.. if he still is like this when he’s 26, then he’s a bust…

I don’t remeber many people Doubting Durant which is why he was in consideration for the top pick.

I’d have to say Oden is a bust because i doubt he will be the same after major injuries like he has. anything is possible but i wouldnt bet on him coming back being as good as he was when he was healthy( i predict a Marcus Camby career which isnt bad)

How do you do a write up on the 2007 draft and leave Thad Young out?  IMO he was one of the top 5 best picks in the draft, especially being taken at 12.  A great pick by I believe Ed Stefanski.

But he looks 43, and his legs are 63.

No one doubted Durant dude. He was looked at as a sure thing scoring champion.  Taking him #2 was among the easier picks ever.

Can I get an explanation on my minus 3 post?  Don’t care about the points but I just wanna know what the reasoning is.  Was it the top 5 claim?

Sorry but Thad Young is a nice, young role player, but not Top 5. Maybe Top 10 from 2007.

You name 13 player better from that draft please.  I will give you Durant, Horford, Noah, and you can argue for Gasol, Chandler, Brooks, N. Young, and Green.

Your 8: Durant, Horford, Noah, Gasol, Chandler, N.Young, Green, Brooks

    9. Conley –  actually right now I have him over Brooks.

    10. Stuckey

    11. Affalo

    12. Baby Davis

    13. T.Young – like i said top 15 is about right

    Next: Landry, Dudley, Fernandez….

Well I actually didn’t give 8.  I gave 3 and then 5 more that you could make an argument for.  After looking a lil harder at the draft, I don’t think Thad is top 5 yet.  I personally would put Thad behind Durant, Noah, Horford, Green, Gasol, and Chandler at number 7.  Maybe it’s just because I watch almost every Sixers game but I think this kid is already a legit 6th man of the year candidate, and once he gets his J down he will be a force to reckon with.

You can have Afflalo, Baby, Stuckey, N. Young, Conley, and Brooks.  I will still take Thad.

You can do more than argue for Gasol over thad young. Young is top 10-15 at best definatly not top 5
