According to realgm.com: "The Knicks have had preliminary discussions with the Minnesota Timberwolves about a trade for point guard Jonny Flynn.

No formal deal is in place, but the Knicks are debating whether Flynn, the sixth overall pick of the 2009 draft would be a viable option to back up Chauncey Billups for at least one season. Flynn has become expendable now that the Wolves have signed Spanish guard Ricky Rubio, who was taken one pick ahead of Flynn.

Toney Douglas would likely be the player traded for Flynn. However, Douglas is coming off major shoulder surgery, which in theory would make him tough to deal. But Flynn is a similar medical risk. The 6-foot guard out of Syracuse had hip surgery last July and was limited to 53 games in his second year, not including a stint in the D-League."

Douglas is probably the better player right now and would add some much needed shooting to the Wolves while Flynn gets a fresh start, would get a chance to return home to NY, and would have the opportunity to learn from a smart, veteran PG in Billups. Pretty solid deal for each side in my opinion.

I can see why the wolves would shop Flynn with them not needing another pg, but not sure why they would want to bring back another pg in return

It is pointless to shop Flynn right now! Who is to say Rubio will start over him & if he does who is to say Rubio will not get hurt.

Both players have kind of an injury risk, which makes it not uneven in that sense.

But the Knicks get a potential PG of the future (or a good placeholder for when Billups retires).  He has somewhat been limited by injuries, but is a better playmaker than Toney Douglas.

Timberwolves get a backup PG and defensive stopper who seems perfect to spell Rubio, the two could even run alongside one another for stretches.  They would make a better backcourt duo than Rubio/Flynn.

    I like it.

Douglas is more of a combo guard and with the addition of Rubio, Douglas can help this team more than Flynn can. Luke Ridnour is still under contract and would split time with Rubio at the point, allowing Douglas to get occasional minutes at the 2 as well as the 1.

Yes, the Knicks need a young point guard, but Flynn???? he’s trash, he can’t even start of Ridnour.  Plus trading Douglas is a mistake, he was a nice backup point guard for Billups last year and he is a streak 3 point shooter that will spread the floor.

The Knicks can easily draft Darius Morris at 17, which is early or trade down a few spots and still get him.

If I’m the Knicks, I want that 20th pick as well. Douglas has shown so far to be the better player so far, so we should at least get that pick. The Knicks can throw in 3 mil, or Ronny Turiaf.

Also Ridnour is not a scrub at PG

this is a pointless trade. wolves need to get rid of flynn, but not for douglas who just had shoulder surgery. douglas has played pretty well also so im not sure why the knicks would be interested.  also douglas isn’t a veteran so he doesnt help us there, and if they want pick 20 as well..you tell  them to f off. find a different team to trade with.

I don’t see Kahn trading Flynn. He drafted Flynn and Rubio with the intention of them playing together and now with Rubio coming to Minny Kahn can fiinally see it come to fruition.

People here are too down of Flynn, he had a pretty good rookie year, and his second year was hampered by an injury that I don’t think he fully recovered from, and he came back a little early. I believe Kahn will at least give him one more year to show what he’s got, and how he can play with Rubio, or coming off the bench. Minny wouldn’t be gaining too much with Douglas, but if Flynn turns out to be a good PG you will regret trading him too early. You can’t just give up on your #5 draft pick when his stock is at its lowest….give him one more year with an improved Minny team and see how he does.

Knicks are twitterpaited by Devin Harris, and tried to make a trade for him last season when he was with the nets!

His youth and speed are 2 of the things that the Knicks like,

But do the Knicks have anything that would interest the Jazz?

and does this mean that they have given up on CP3 Joining them next season?

and what would this mean for Billups

and why does it hurt when I pee?

and are The Jazz willing to trade him, or do they target Kanter, or Vessely in the draft instead of Knight?

Flynn is better than Douglas.  Flynn had an injury plagued year.  He was coached Herman Munster too.  Tcoach in a terrible system  that did not fit Flynn well.  Flynn has a stong disliking for Rambis.  He had good rookie year and is a much better player than he showed this past year.  Flynn will get traded this year because of Rubio coming, however it will be for a better player than Douglas.  Not to mention why would the wolves trade 1 pg for another weaker pg.  It doesn’t make any sense.  The wolves will trade Flynn but it will not be for another pg.  He’ll probably be included in a larger trade.

There is no reason in the world to trade Flynn now.

He’s a #6 pick in the draft, yet currently has no value.  The talent didn’t evaporate and he could be a top reserve player in the league. Douglas is a nice player, but his potential is nowhere near that high.  Since the Wolves aren’t contending, there is no reason to not develop Flynn.  Flynn was, likewise, a terrible fit for Rambis’ system which is, with or without Kurt, said to be changing.  Why get rid of him before you see how he fits in the new system? His value won’t go down any more – he needs to stay where he is and just play.
