JustForThoughtParticipantWhy is everybody saying if the Wolves are forced to draft Derrick Williams they must trade Beasley? Out of the two players Beasley is better and has more potential, and i personally think the only similarities in their games is there size/skillset as they really dont play much a like. Personally though if im the Timberwolves I would do the Gortat and 13th pick for the number 2 pick and pekovic.

providencefriars1ParticipantThat Gortat trade would be a no brainer for the Wolves

BBall4life88ParticipantI was just about to post this exact same thread and completely agree with you.
People that actually watched the Timerwolves this year would know that Beasley is a great scorer and has a ton of potential. He’s a very rare offensive talent that can create his own shot at will and is capable of taking over games in the 4th quarter, Skip Bayless would say he’s got the clutch gene, for those who followed the Wolves last year you would know what i’m talking about.
Even Doc Rivers said...“Offensively, I’ve been a big believer in him…I just think he can score. I said it two years ago: I think one day he may lead the league in scoring. He just knows how to score the ball. He has a Carmelo ability to score the ball."
Beasley is not trade bait, he is a part of the Wolves future.
I think one thing the Wolves are missing is a veteran SG. In my opinion the Wolves best options are to draft Kanter 2 if they really like him, or trade the pic for an established 2 guard like Andre Iggy…but I’m also starting to like this trade idea too because I think Gortat is just the type of center Minny needs with Love.
If the Wolves do this trade with Phoenix for Gortat and the 13th pick the could get their SG for the future, I like Klay Thompson in this position, and maybe you could get Phoenix to throw in Pietrus or Childress, and it would make this trade even better.

PlatypusParticipantMinny sends: Flynn, Beasley, and 20th pick
Pistons sends: Ben Gordon and 8th pick
Minny: gets a shooter and a defensive big
Rubio – Gordon – Johnson – Love – Biyombo(8th pick)
Ridnour – Ellington – Webster – Randolph – Pekovic / Darko
Detroit: gets 2 good point guards and a scorer and dumps gordon
Morris (20th pick) – Daye – Beasley – Monroe – Wallace
Flynn (coming off injury) /Bynum – Hamilton – 2nd rounder – Charlie V – Maxiell

mj23mj23besteverParticipantthat would b a good trade for the wolves imo and as mentioned at 13 they could draft one of the sg such as klay t or burks

james1337ParticipantBeasley is going to be a star someday just wait everyone. Pat Riley shouldn’t have traded away that talent even he saw him improve every season. Great scouting by Miami. Not the best trade but it was to clear cap space so who cares I miss him in Miami. Part of the reason as to why his stats were great this year is because he had a major role and was a small forward(last year he was a power forward) in the lineup. I like him because he doesn’t need a star player to do good that being said, the Timberwolves failed by far the most in the last quarter and it’s going to take alot more then a few players and trades to fix their situation.
I was really hoping the Timberwolves were going to get Kyrie but noooo some spanish asshole finally decided it’s his time to go make a fool out of himself in the NBA. They should trade him if anyone.

BBall4life88Participantlol, you’re missing the point of the thread…we don’t think the Wolves should shop Beasley. Plus, you’re undervaluing Beasley in your trade scinerio.

RubioTuesdays01ParticipantTheres no way in hell the twolves should trade 2 for gortat and 13. what an awful deal. we need big time players on this team. not a semi decent center. id rather just take kanter and he could be better than gortat. the point is with the assets you have. you can’t trade for a middle of the road guy. I say if you can’t find a deal you like for 2. you take d-will and just roll with it. you can always trade him but if he ends up being very good. our win total will go up maybe 5-10 just because of him. trade 20 and darko or pek for a center if you’d like. im pretty sure phx would take that deal for lopez or gortat. Its really going to be hard to trade beasley cause of his performance last year so the wolves need to do everything they can to get another big and a 2 guard. There are also some good sg options in free agency and with a guy like rubio, and d-will. i believe we could pick up someone to come in and either back up wes or start for us and give our team some depth.

laarethekingsParticipantThe whole taking to himself and being have ass crazy is why i would trade Beasley

JustForThoughtParticipanti believe beasley is going to be a top 5 scorer someday and if he improves his handles and conditioning durant vs him is going to be a great head to head matchup , with beasley possibly gettting the better of him with his strength.
Gortat is a top 10 center in the league, and darko backing him up would give us 2 top 20 centers.
Beasley is this teams primary scoring option, they should look to add nick young thru freeagency and have rubio getting these guys open looks would be a great core.
Potential rotation
PG Rubio – Flynn
SG Young – Johnson – Webster
SF Beasley – Johnson – Webster/Randolph
PF Love – Randolph
C Gortat – Darko – Koufus

larbear260Participantim not sold on derrick williams, i think he will be a good nba player at worst, and definitly shows similarites to beasley, but i think long term beasley will be the better player last season he showed signs of maturing, had his best year thus far and looks like a long term piece to minnesota, i think alot of teams would throw more at min for williams tho, they could probably get a nice package of talent and/or picks in the future for williams

BBall4life88ParticipantI would love to see the Wolves get Andre Iggy.
Thinking in terms of the best roster fit for the Wolves we would prefer a shooting guard that can play defense, have great intangibles and veteran leadership, can move great without the ball, athletic and knock down the open jumper. Because Beasley will be the primary shooter and scorer and Rubio will be the primary ball handler, so the Wolves would need somebody that can be effective without the ball in his hand, and i think Iggy is that perfect fit.
I also think the Wolves need to look at some options for a defensive center that brings intensity and athleticism, because Love isn’t the best defender and Darko can be soft and unagressive. So i think Bismack Biyombo is a great fit with Love in the frontcourt.
Is there a way the Wolves could make a deal for Iggy and Phillies #16 pick to draft Bismack?
The Wolves trade the #2 and #20 pick for Iggy and Phillies #16 pick…does that work?
…maybe the Wolves could throw in another player, Luke Ridnour

BlueLacesParticipantKnightsWATCH- Koufus got dealt halfway through the season last year…0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/19/2011 - 5:15pm #547340
PulseGlazerParticipantI’m totally sold on both Beasy and Derrick… shame there’s no real way for them to play together. A question for those who’ve seen more Wolves than I have – Can Beas cover 3’s?
