New trade for the T Wolves 2nd overall pick

its gonna take more than gortat to acquire the 2nd pick.

If the Suns threw in Pietrus I could see this working out. T’Wolves get a backup SG/SF who is a tough defender and a solid C who should challenge Darko for the starting spot, although you wonder whether it’s a good thing, with Darko showing improvement as a defensive C especially. Gortat wouldn’t be pleased with this though, after finally being a starter, possibly moving back to the bench.

I hope this happens just because it means Beasley gets another year to grow as the 1st option.

I discussed a similar trade with Wolves for Gortat before hearing about this and got negged for the idea…lol.

I love the idea of the the Wolves looking to make a deal for Gortat but I think in this scenario the Wolves are giving up too much with the 2 pick. 

I agree with omphalos, If the Suns threw in another player like Peitrus, Hakim Warrick, Josh Childress, Jared Dudley….I would do this trade. 

If the Wolves are still shopping the 2nd pick what does that mean? They’ve had Derrick Williams in for a workout and no doubt they’ve scouted him, so if they’re consider Gortat as an option for swapping picks, what does that say about how they view Williams? They brought the kid in from Utah State to workout with him who isn’t anything more than a scrapper, so it’s obvious they were testing how tough Derrick Williams is in the workout. 

Most people here say the Wolves are crazy and neg anyone who suggets options for their 2nd pick, but those ideas may not be crazy simply because the simple fact the Wolves ARE shopping the pick. They clearly don’t value Williams the same as people do on this website otherwise they wouldn’t be taking half the calls they are reported to be taking.

If they’re not that high on him, they should take a lesson from NJ and not draft Williams then openly shop him the way NJ did by drafting Favors and openly shopping him last season. It potentially can create problems with their fan base and team. 

They really should try to keep things quieter and stop leaking stuff to Chad Ford since it really does no advantage to them. Teams leak info for the sake of getting free public opinion by observing the reaction of the fan base to the rumors – i.e they’re clearly unsure of what they’re doing. LA, and Utah are two teams off the top of my head who usually keep things quiet up until things are going through. 

I think the Wovles are just looking at their options.

And i don’t think it’s because they’re not high on Williams, it’s more that their strongest at the SF/PF positions. They need to start adressing their biggest weaknesses, which is C and SG with Rubio now signing.  

I don’t think they meant to things to go public, or maybe they did…at least teams know that the Wolves are going to be very active and willing to make deals, which opens up a lot of possibilities. I think it’s only for the better…better to have a lot of options to choose from rather than being pigeonholed with drafting Williams #2.

They are also in talks with the Lakers to try to get Gasol for the pick and a couple of their players or for the pick and love and a couple of players or for Beasley Love and a couple of players

So the Suns finally get a good defensive minded center and want to trade him away for a player that projects as Beasley?  :boggle:
