    Not every play or even often, but why don’t more teams run their effective shooters off double screens for corner threes, or even wide open mid-range shots.  If anyone on the team can penetrate, there’s very little reason not to do this.  It’s dependent on speed and shooting, but the better shooters don’t need much space, and it’s one of the best plays in basketball.  I mean, Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, and, in the mid-range, Rip Hamilton have all been hugely effective doing this.  Off the top of my head Korver, Reddick, Granger, Ben Gordon, Eric Gordon and even Anthony Morrow could add 1-2 3’s a contest this way even in limited play… so why isn’t it more utilized?

    just my observation.  defenses can go either over or under the screens.  watching the bulls and Korver it seems the defense always goes under the screens which means the shooter needs to curl not fade to get the ball.  also passing angles are tough to get the ball to the corner if the ball is at the top of the key.

    I concur completely.  That move can’t be the only action, the whole play, and it won’t work every time, but… you run it weakside and get an extra couple threes a game…isn’t that worth it rather than the corner spot up?  It even keeps the bigs who don’t score much more involved in the offense.

     Getting a corner three would be great, even if it is on the move. But getting deap twos isn’t such a good offense. Most NBA offenses don’t shoot well enough from 20 feet to make that a good play. Sure a few teams have a few guys who can do it, but a lot of teams don’t. Your offense just won’t be able to keep up with an offense that is shooting threes and getting layups and dunks or high percentage post shots.

    Right – I’m not saying why everyone doesn’t do it. It was a specific question about specific players and teams that can.
