NiceWithTheRockParticipantIrving has been compared to Chris Paul And Mike Conley. But, after watching some Irving mixes, I feel that he’s most comparable to Kyle Lowry. And trust me that’s not a knock. Lowry averaged about 14 and 7 this past season for the Houston Rockets and in my opinion, was a top 15 (maybe even 10) pg. They have similar body types in that they have husky builds. Also they both are crafty w/ the ball, have deceptive speed and are good shooters. I think Irving as of now is closer to Lowry with a chance of getting to Chris Paul’s level. Again, this is a good thing because Lowry is an above average pg (very underrated btw). If the 2006 draft was done over he’d go top 10.

TallmanNYCParticipantI like what Kyrie did as a Freshman, but if I were the Cavs I’d take D Williams and a PG to be named at pick four. D Williams did some sick stuff last year and PG did good stuff as well but it wasn’t like game changing stuff. The Cavs would love to get Knight and D. Williams. Much better than Kyrie and Jan "I can jump good for a European" Vesley.

NiceWithTheRockParticipantYou have a good point. I feel the only way Irving goes first is if the Cavs believe he will be a star. Anything less, then they will go for Williams. There are many good pg’s to be had who are already proven at that level. I’m believe the cavs will go big at 4 and it may be Vesely who’s stock is rising.

Memphis MadnessParticipantIf the Cavs take Derrick Williams at 1 then there’s a slight chance that Irving will be there at 4.

JNixonParticipantKyle Lowry and Kyrie Irving don’t play the same way or have the same strengths as players.
Lowry is a quick, stocky guard who likes to slash and has never really been very efficient from the floor. Irving is a smooth operator who will score from all 3 levels well and get you more assists than Lowry will I think, and he’s taller and more of a PG than Lowry is. Lowry also competes harder on the defensive end. I don’t see how the 2 or comparable at all honestly.

PulseGlazerParticipantI don’t see the Lowry comp either. I also admit to being a bit befuddled by the idea that Kyrie is a top guard in the league. He really reminds me of a more-developed-at-a-younger-age Conley. Which isn’t bad… but #1? No thanks.
