NYFLAVA2K9ParticipantIts seems the Clips are so eager to get rid of Kaman, and I think it should be the opposite. Dude was an all-star the year before last and is just in the midst of his prime, why give that up? Why spend years grooming him, then ship him once he establishes him self as a top 5 center. How many other 7 footers have averaged 20-10 w/ 2 bpg just as recently as 2 years ago..Howard and Gasol only, very good company to be in. Kaman also wasn’t the classic case of putting up good numbers on a bad team… dude can hoop. Kaman has some of the best footwork in the post, has a soft touch, and works on his game. I know he has injury concerns, but nothing even serious. The only thing Jordan has on Kaman is athleticsm. (Kamans no stiff either). Jordan is historically bad from the FT line, has range of about 4 feet, and has no post moves to speak of. Yes he rebounds and blocks shots, but what good is that when he’s a threat to foul out every game, and a liability late in the game ( if he can even stay on the floor long enough). It goes to show you why the Clippers are who they are…

TRC1991ParticipantKaman is a great player, but in order to develop Blake Griffin, they need a center whose skill set best compliments Blake’s. Like it or not, Kaman is a gunner. He loves to shoot and have the ball in his hands. Jordan’s defensive abilities will pair well with Griffin’s offense for the future.
Btw, kaman has never averaged 20, 10 and 2…whered you get that info?

joecheck88ParticipantTruthfully, we do in ways overrate Deandre jordan on this site. Kaman and Griffin arent a great fit on either side of the ball together, imo. Jordan is like 23 years old. Look at where tyson Chandler was at 23 and look at him now at 28ish. Chandler was an athletic shot blocker and rebounder with no offensive moves. Brendan Haywood is also similar. Those are 2 starting caliber centers in this league. Another is Dalembert. Jordan is more athletic than all of them and has a chance to be as strong as haywood. He should develop into a good defensive C and that will mesh very well with BG. It isn’t a knock on Kaman, he is a very good C but Deandre is a better fit as of now.

NYFLAVA2K9ParticipantYou’re right @ Taylor, my mistake but he’s atleast come close to those numbers… something Jordan will never do. And I agree you need a Center that compliments Blake skill set, but overall you need good players… smart players who can play in the 4th quarter. I just feel Jordans weaknesses out weigh the strengths, and his skill set is a lot easier to replace than Kamans. Point is Kaman is top 5-7 at his position right now.. Jordan wont ever be top 10 even in the future. I just don’t see the logic in going backwards at a premium position like center.

NYFLAVA2K9ParticipantI agree Blake and Jordan fit better together long term for numerous reasons (age, skill set, potential). But if the Clips want to get serious about winning now vs later and keep Blake in a Clips uni, I say don’t just give Kaman away. Only way I move Kaman is if its bringing an all-star caliber SF (Iggy, Granger, Gay).
