Julyan Stone to Lakers?

That would be nice. He’s got everything you want in a PG, except he can’t shoot and he’s not an aggressive scorer. And he’s an athletic 6’7 200 guy from the PG spot. Not a bad decision to look at him in the 2nd, he’s got the potential to be a 2nd (at best) or 3rd PG.

I will file this one with Greg Monroe isn’t athletic enough to play in the NBA, Stanley Robinson has the athleticism to be a game changer, Charles Garcia is a name to remember, and The Bobcats made out with what is certainly the best player in the draft when they drafted Adam Morrison.

Harper was a big time scorer in his prime, Stone will never be that.

BTW, Stone worked out for Charlotte today and both he and Randy Culpepper will for Detroit tomorrow.

 ^^^^Or Coop. and BTW JNixon, with Kobe helping develop his shot the way he did with Ariza, I could actually see him being quite the rotation player. even starting if they had a better option at the 3. And given the development with the jumpshooting regime Ariza so nicely called the jumpshot bible, i see no reason for him not be able to develop into at least a serviceable catch and shoot guy. I’d much rather preffer him at 56 or even 46 though. Could be better options at 41 IMO. 

Also heard that they have a deal in the works with Minny for the #20 pick. Then a seperate deal exchanging Webster and their trade X. The deal may not go through though as apparently LAL will only do it if the guy they want falls that far.

Of all the things you could be lacking in, I feel shooting is easier to fix than other things. If you are determined, and wantit enough and spend enough time in the gym, you can become a better shooter, just look at J-Kidd. I am hoping the same thing will happen with Rondo in 7-10 years.

I don’t see this being true at all. Lakers do have a handful of second round picks, so it is possible they could take him. I’m with BothTeamsPlayedHard, if he got the promise, he wouldn’t be working out.

If a guy is good enough to go through the pre-draft process, he is good enough to be taken in the 2nd round. He has worked out for eleven teams plus the NJ group thing. If he gives a team an assurance that he won’t sign an NBA contract for next year and develops elsewhere, I can easily see someone taking him. A 6’7" pass first point guard will always intrigue NBA teams even if his body of work at UTEP isn’t awe-inspiring. There are probably sixty or seventy possible second rounders I would consider if they stated their willingness to go to Europe or the NBDL next year. That is a big part of the reason the Thunder grabbed Latavious Williams and Ryan Reid last summer. The Lakers own and operate the D-Fenders. If they keep their second rounders, they might just be drafting for that team. The problem with stating that the Lakers have committed to him is that in year’s past when a guy gets that word they shut it down. Jon Brockman got his commitment, and went MIA. Wilson Chandler went MIA after the Knicks guaranteed him a slot. Stone went to Charlotte and then Detroit. According to his twitter, his workout with the Lakers went well. Maybe it did, but it wasn’t so good he just decided to stay there and wait.
