He seems to be a very good player at Virginia. He is averaging 20 ppg. Why haven’t I heard more about him?

I’ve seen Sylven about 30 times in high school and sparingly so far this year in college. He was a McDonald’s All-American but I honestly never thought he would have this much of a statistical impact in his first year. First off, he is extremely smart and an incredibly hard worker. He knows how to use screens and seal himself off well in the lane and has gotten stronger. He can also stroke it. I always viewed Sylven as a Danny Green type of guy that can do a little bit of everything but never thought he would have this type of an immediate impact.

UVA isn’t that good. That’s why he’s putting up such good. Plus they only played to good teams his year in Cuse and Minn. and he scored 16 and 10. Once UVA plays ACC games his #s will go down.

Teammates Malik Hairston and Maarty Luenen unexpectedly heard their names called but Taylor didn’t.

Anybody who saw him play against Carolina knows why you haven’t heard much. Like Tbuc said, numbers inflated by playing on a bad team and having some big games against the weaklings on ther schedule. As only a freshman i think he has potential and ive heard he is a great worker so I’m sure he will get a chance in the league, but he isnt quite top tier in his class. Rabinowitz, it was funny you mentioned a danny green comparison because danny green absolutely ate him up when they played.

1st round pick whenever he comes out. He does a little bit of everything, and has improved his perimeter shot a lot this year. UVA has an awful supporting cast, but the wins over UAB, GT, and NC State are impressive.

He’d be a more recognizable prospect and player if he developed a standout facet of his game. He’s a good scorer in college, but he might not have the ability to slash as much in the NBA because he’s not that great an athlete or ball handler. But he’s a 1st rounder in 2011.
