The NBA is an elite fraternity, and us being the worshippers we are, are familiar with each and every player. We know their background, their strengths and weaknesses, their measurements, career stats, etc.

There are a total of 450 players in the NBA…some of the guys we discuss more than others like russell westbrook (as of late), lebron james, dirk, etc. However, there are some role players who fly under the radar and are rarely talked about on here…Now is their time for recognition

What are your opinions of the following players:

    Maurice Evans

    Hakim Warrick

    Marcus Banks

    Solomon Jones

    Leon Powe

    Julian Wright

    Stephen Graham

    Marquis Daniels

I feel like with Memorial Day being just last week it’s a good time for us to remember these players and appreciate the time they have put into the game of basketball and the lifelong commitments they’ve made. All the aforementioned guys are battle-tested veterans who have given a lot of teams a lot of heart over the years.

I agree with you that they’re all respect-deserving players, but theirs a reason why people dont talk about them..

They’re all below average role players, 9-12th men, yeah they’ve had an impact on their teams, but honestly, if you took each of these guys off their respective teams, I dont see any of those team records being any different.

But I understand and appreciate where you were going with this..much respect to all these vets

Maurice Evans I cant remember what school he went to. MSU? Arkansas?    He is a role player on the wing in the Keith Bogans mold. Play good D and shoot around 40 percent on a few 3’s.

Lots of people know about Hakim Warrick. He is a solid bench guy or fringe starter IMO, out of Syracuse obviously, won the title with Melo. Hes on the Suns now, got something like 5 years 30 mil last offseason IIRC

Marcus Banks was Bostons first rounder in the mid 2000’s from UNLV and has been a bad contract for years. Been traded a trillion times.

I know next to nothing about Solomon Jones. Backup center for the Pacers? Dont know where he came from or if he is any good. I remember seeing that name and thinking Who the F is that lol.

Lots of People know about Powe. Was a real good player for Boston when they won it all. A real junkyard dog type, but then he tore his ACL and has never been the same. Bouncing around bottom Dwellers. He was a guy I liked out of Cal that flew under the radar. LA native I believe.

Julian Wright is a huge but. Unanimous top 10 recruit, went to Kansas and was overrated from day 1. Granted he won a title, but that team had JR’s Brandon Rush, Chalmers, SO Arthur, Wright, Collins a freshman Aldrich. That team was looooaded. He was a lottery pick and looked like he had some potential his rookie year and has been a nobody ever since. Doubt he sees a second contract. Never seemed like a hard worker.

Stephen Graham went to OSU and played with his brother Joey? I believe. Dont know anything about his NBA career, which probably tells you a little something about said career.

Marquis Daniels is an interesting one. He hasn’t ever really done anything but always looked to be on the verge of doing something. He is kind of an it is what it is guy if that make any sense. He is ok.

Maurice Evans- I’ll remember him for being a solid role player for a bad Lakers team and a hell of an athlete.  Needs to get out of Atlanta because of number of wing players they have.

Hakim Warrick- Somewhat disappointed in him after watching him at Syracuse but still a decent 6th man.  Also a great athlete but never developed the way I expected.

Marcus Banks- As a suns fan I was a fool to think us signing him to that 5 year deal was great and he could play the back up PG.  Huge disappointment.  I still see him every week working out at the rec center I go to.  Shoulda played Football.  No taller than 6’1 but a solid 220.

Leon Powe – Loved him at Cal (when healthy) and for the Celtics 2008 championship run.  For being so undersized he got the most of what he was given, hope he keeps a job in the NBA.

Julian Wright- I always thought of him as a tweener coming out of Kansas and he hasn’t done much to prove me otherwise. Great athlete with limited basketball skills, thought the Hornets should have taken Nick Young over him on draft day.

Stephen Graham- Turned out to be more similar to his brother than I thought they would.  I remember him from his Oklahoma State days more and the great sweet sixteen matchup when Salim Stoudemire hit the game winner.

Marquis Daniels- Josh Howard and Marquis always confused me for their first two years in the league, I couldn hardley tell which one was in the game unless I looked at their number.  That being said Howard turned into a star for a couple years and Daniels has bounced around. Thought he would contribute to the Celtics but injury slowed him down.
