Is it just me, or is this the next Derek Fisher? I know Chalmers has only three years under his belt, but he keeps nailing big shot after big shot sfter big shot. Now he may not be as good a three point shooter as Derek Fisher, but whenever the Heat need a bucket, other than Lebron or Wade, I see Chalmers drlling a three. For example, it was a one point game at the half in game 1, and at one point in the game the score was 44-43, Mavs. In the Possesions prior the Mavs had been making quality shots and had been on a run, but on the last two Heat possesions, Chalmers hit two huge threes. If he doesn’t connect on those, you have a 7 point game, Mavs ball, and almost into the half. There have been many other instances where it may not have necesarlily been late in games, but with the momentum shifting, Chalmers turns the tide back to the Heat. Now I am not comparing them as types of players, but if you look at chalmers small sample size of stats, and Fisher’s stats, you could see that when playign 30 + minutes, they give you double fugures in points and  a couple assists. When averaging 20-25 minutes a game, as Chalmers has been the past two seasons, they give you 6-8 points with around 2-3 assists. Now Chalmers in my oppinion, like Fisher, is a borderline starter, but can give any contender a big  boost, in that they are not afraid to hit the big shot.

Chalmers has always been clutch. In college Rush was the leading scorer, but anyone who regularly watched KU would know Chalmers was getting the ball at the end of the game.  He hit the 3 to send KU into overtime in the national championship game and it’s not surprising he keeps hitting big shots.  Although he’s not a great distributer, he’s a good fit for Miami IMO, even if he’s not a long term starter option for them, he can definately be a good backup.

I agree Chalmers always has been a big shot taker, and he usually comes through. He’s a classic overachiever who isn’t a big talent, but he makes open shots and doesn’t need to handle the ball much to be effective.

LMAO when Chalmers is wide open and Wade nor Lebron passes him the ball b/c they want to take the last second shot, they generally go out their way to distance themselves from him lol, its true just watch the games, its like they don’t like em all that much. But I agree, Mario is playing himself into a nice contract no doubt, he has really been the top darkhorse for the Heat IMO

Chalmers has completely changed my view of him. His ball-handling isn’t very impressive but he has surprising blow-by ability for someone with just decent athleticism…and his clutch shooting is absolutely remarkable…im one of the most critical fans on this site and for me to appreciate someone like chalmers, he must be doing something right
