OK everone has Kemba getting selected over Jimmer but in my honest opinion I would select Jimmer anyday and here is why. Everyone talks about how lighting quick Kemba Walker but Jimmer had a faster agility time in the combo. Now we all know that Jimmer and Kemba are not known for there defense but the truth is they both didnt need to play any d and werent suppose to play any d because that helped there team win so you cant really say who is there better deffender who which one is actually bad at d-fense but if you were to pick who the better defender is you would by how quick and tall they are and Jimmer has the advantage in both. Now the next thing is teams want to draft so they can win in the future and to win games shooting and spreading the court for your players superstars wins game just look at the mavs and heat there teams are built by superstars (dirk for mavs and lebron and wade for heat ) and have space to do what they can do best and score because of there shooters (kidd ,terry, peja, stevenson, for mavs and bibby, chalmers, jones, and miller for heat). So if you want to win and have more scoring options created by your point guard pick Jimmer because he averaged more points then Kemba and had a better field goal percentage .Now Kemba did beat Jimmer in assit by .1 assist per game but if you watched the BYU games you could see how much more assist Jimmer could have had if is team was actually good . And now back to my point about how spreading the court out wins games Jimmer obviously does that the best and he couldnt do that better then Kemba anyday.

Both will be good NBA players in my opinion, but Jimmer is a limited player and I’m not convinced that he can be a full time starter. Although he shocked a lot of people with his athletic testing numbers in the combine he doesn’t come across as very athletic in a live game, and no where near Kemba’s quickness, don’t go by combine numbers just watch one of their college games.

I also agree that these players could have probably had more assists if they wanted to, or if their teams had more scoring help. Being the best players on their team with little scorers to pass to their responsibility was scoring to help their team win. I think Kemba has the ability to be passer and playmaker in the NBA with his ability to break down the defense but I think Jimmer will have a harder time doing this in the NBA.

Kemba has better court vision, leadership, and is better equip running an offense. He also plays better defense, and for a 6’0 PG, he rebounds better than most SGs. Kemba has also shown he can play without the ball, he showed it playing alongside a talented PG Napier.  Jimmer is a better scorer, but Kemba has better PG skills, and ultimately thats the reason why he will be drafted higher, he is a more well rounded player.

Jimmer is nowhere near the level of Kemba Walker, and potential wise Kemba has a chance to be a starting point guard in the NBA. Jimmer does not have the ball handling to play the point guard position full time in the NBA

The way Kemba scores is more translatable to the nba than the way Jimmer scores.  Jimmer is a bad defender and Kemba is a small defender, both negatives.  In short it’s Kemba.

I’m takin kemba. This guy willed his team to a championship this year. The argument that jimmer is quicker based on combine times isn’t winning anybody over, if you watched any college bball this year it’s pretty obvious who the better player is.

One major thing worth noting is the improvement kemba made from his sophomore year to his junior year… Amazing, I don’t think anybody saw that coming. This makes me think he’ll continue to improve but I don’t think jimmer will get much better than he is now. Uconn was picked to finish 9th in the big east and they won it all on kemba’s shoulders, that has to count for something

If you can convince someone that Jimmer is faster than Kemba with the basketball, I will hire you as my agent.

With or without the ball Walker is one of the faster players in the NBA. Forget college

Kemba has backed out of his workout matchup against Jimmer,in Sac., I’m not sure he wants that matchup, he has nothing to gain, more to lose.

Kemba looks more impressive on 5 on 5 drills, Jimmer is a much better scorer.

If Jimmer played in the big east, would he have led the nation in scoring?

"If Jimmer played in the big east, would he have led the nation in scoring?"

Maybe not. But he would’ve been more efficient, showed that he is a PG, and he still would’ve made some ridiculous shots and made his team a winner. I have no doubts he would’ve been more efficient than Walker and showed more PG skills with more talent on his team. BYU had some good, high level mid-major players on that team that lost to K-State in the 2nd round in 2009-2010, and Fredette showed outstanding efficiency and PG skills then too with that talent. Depending on which team he went to, he would’ve been an outstanding Big East player. Think Ben Hansbrough with a better off the dribble game.

Iggy: Very true.   I don’t think any particular player would score as much as Jimmer did , unless their team needed them to and let them shoot at will, giving Jimmer credit, it was hard to be the marked man every night and be doubled and triple teamed.  I think Jimmer will adjust just fine in the NBA, he has good handles and a great shot and with other talented players around him he will find it easier to score, he won’t be asked to shoot nearly so much but he won’t have to force the issue.  I think he will welcome the chance to prove he can be a true point guard.

Imo Kemba was a pretty pesky defender and him an Napier did a great job of pressuring guards all season, Kemba did what he had to do for his team to win as far as being a scorer. If u look at the games back when he first got to Uconn u will see that he is a PG. And imo will look alot better at the NBA level then college becuase of the caliber of talent surrounding him. I wouldnt even label Jimmer a PG. He imo is a playmaker as a small 2. Yes he can handle the ball and shoot the shit outta the ball but the team wus at BYU was pretty much made for him. Spot up shooters on the wings, A big who cleaned up the glass and also could score a lil in the post in Davies paired with a strech big that could shoot. But he wont have the same freedom in the NBA as he did at BYU, he looked like a very ball dominant player, but as we saw Kemba could play off the ball and he did this pretty much all season. Jimmer is a really good player but i do question how his game will translate. Give me Kemba.

@CJwhitaker1987, I completely agree with Kemba being a pesky defender.  He had to create all UConns offense and never took a a play off on the defensive end, the dude was the energizer bunny out there.  On more than a few occasions I remember him sprinting back on defense to take a charge.  One of the most competitive players in college basketball who presents more intangibles than Jimmer.

Jimmer is garbage, will never be a winner. His defense is worse than Mike Bibby and Jamal Crawford put together. Being a Hawks fan I know how easy it is for a one dimensional guard to really hurt a team that is seriously trying to compete at a playoff level. He will help sale tickets if he goes to Utah or Indy but that’s about it.

Kemba has no three point shot. He declined to shoot in the combine shooting drills and has now backed off working out against Jimmer. His teammates were much better than Jimmer’s BYU squad, thats why he won a title. Jimmer > Walker

Have you come back to earth yet? Kemba might be an All Star this year if his team is represented. Jimmer, well….nuff said

Wow, did you just sign on and make a new account just to make a year old debate?
Kemba won’t be an all star. Bobcats have lost something like 16 straight. I wouldn’t have drafted either of those players in the first round, so I suspect I’m righter than both of you.
