Does anyone knows Andrew Albicy? Probably not. He’s a small french guard, who played the 2010 World Championship with France. He scored 13 points in the win against Spain, and defended really well on Rubio. This guy was named fourth in the best european players in 2010, behind Vesely, Rubio and Valanciunas. Why isn’t he in the mockdraft? His height is very small, he is compared to Muggsey Bogues. And this guy is very quick.

Here is a tiny video during this game against Spain:

I didn’t say he was so great, I said he was someone who could do something in the NBA. I admit that his height is a big disadvantage. And I didn’t compared him to thomas.

I have followed him closely for a while, since 08, notice he’s been in all of my mock drafts, the difficulty for him is unlike Nate Robinson and Thomas he is a below average athlete vertically. Finishing in the lane could be difficult, he will definitely have to mold his game after Boykins and Barrea. In terms of skills he can play in the league. Lightning quick and will get steals under bigger players, quick end to end with the ball, nice dexterity with both hands, good vision. The problem with a guy his size of course is always the issue of having to guard PG’s up to 6 inches taller and 50 pounds heavier. Finishing inside will be difficult despite his crafty shots. Also he needs to work on his jump shot, if he can’t hit his shot consistently he is in trouble because if teams play off of him he can’t finish inside. I do think he’s worth drafting and keeping his rights and I can see him having a nice NBA career as a role player.

When Beaubois got hurt last summer and Albicy got to play with the senior team he really showed that he can be a floor general and direct older players, I always knew he was quick but this underrated aspect really impressed me. Unlike Nando De Colo and Edwin Jackson who have superior tools to work with, Albicy has the intangibles that you look for in a role player. That’s an overlooked aspect, most of these guys won’t be NBA starters so you want a guy who can accept being a role player. Look at Rudy Fernandez. All the talent in the world, but is unwilling to accept his role so his play has digressed.
