    Sources say Washington & Phoenix have been the most active teams trying to trade up for Derrick Williams. T’Wolves want a "veteran big man."

    I think we can safely assume that neither Washington or Phoenix have a veteran bigman that has enough value on their own to trade for the 2nd Pick.  I don’t believe the Wolves think Blatche or McGee fit that veteran bigman description either.  If there’s one move they’d look at from one of these teams it would be Gortat, a re-signed Aaron Brooks, and their 1st Rounder this year for the 2nd pick, but I’m sure the Wolves would have to include someone else.  Nevertheless, here’s a list of younger, veteran bigmen that the Wolves are likely targeting to trade the 2nd pick for, most, if not all would require the Wolves to include other pieces too:

    Marc Gasol – Restricted Free Agent
    Andrew Bynum
    Brook Lopez
    Andrew Bogut
    Al Horford
    Joakim Noah
    Nene Hilario

    Can these guys fit defensively with Love?
    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Josh Smith
    Paul Milsap

    Are any of these players attainable?

     Josh Smith wouldnt work both play the 4, Nene would work here though, i think they need to get a veteran shooting guard in my opinion. my idea

    2nd overall for 8th overall, 2nd rounder and rip hamilton

    Rubio – rip – Johnson – Love – Biyombo or Jonas Valanciunas

    Flynn – Brooks (20th overall) – Webster – Beasley – Darko

    There’s no way Glen Taylor takes on $25M over the next two seasons to a 33 year old SG on the downside of his career.  Especially in a Collective Barganing Agreement year where the Salary Cap is bound to change dramatically.  Also, I don’t think there’s any way they would give up value for Rip, not sure if any team would, didn’t Detroit have a trade setup at the deadline this last season where they were dumping his salary?  Taylor lost $20M this last season, and almost $100M over the last five on the Wolves, he’s not going to make an investment in a 33 year old SG, think veterans under 30, guys still at their peak.  I have to agree with you on the propsect of them getting a veteran SG, just not one as old as Rip, here’s a list of SG/SF I thought they would go after:

    Danny Granger
    Rudy Gay
    Andre Iguodala
    Monta Ellis
    Kevin Martin
    OJ Mayo

    Same thing as above, I’d assume for most, if not all, the Wolves would have to include additional pieces besides the 2nd Pick, ie: Flynn, Beasley, Wes.

    Nene is the most attainable out of all those guys because they could just sign him if they wanted to, granted it would take up a lot of their cap space.

    IMO the Wolves should seriously consider Gortat. He’s very athletic and active, the opposite of Love on defense, he’s a legit 6-11 and was one of the best centers in the league after getting traded to PHX: 13 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 29 minutes. Along with the Suns 13th pick, The Wolves could also take Pietrus, solid 7th man with one year left, and make the Suns take back a contract like Darko or Ridnour. Pekovic/Flynn are fine backups for the time being.

    Last year Wolves traded Big Al to let Love develop

    now the’re looking for a "veteran big man"???

     Hey if Minny wants to give the Jazz the #2 pick they can take "Big Al" back……just a thought….

    So I don’t think they’d be giving up players to match salaries or dump a salary on another, believe it or not but Ridnour has more value than just his contract number.  Can’t see Glen Taylor taking on any additional salary except for a good player.

    If this draft is really as weak as people claim there is no way they should be thinking about any of those players you named in your list other than signing Nene if he opts out, Marc Gasol if they severely overpay, or maybe Josh Smith, Milsap, or Gortat for the right price. I think the Wolves will end up keeping that pick and simply stockpiling PG’s or Forwards, Beasley’s contract is up after this year so it would not be bad to take Derrick Williams and let Beasley simply walk next summer or trade his expiring. Either way Minny is not going anywhere anytime soon, but they have some forwards that could really help some teams that have a clue.

    Already too many guys, Beasley and Randolph are both guys who can play the 3 and the 4. So, if you take Williams someone will need to be moved just to have playing time for all.

     

    Flynn

    Rubio

    Ridnour

    If you take Irving someone will need to get moved just to have playing time.

     

    Darko

    Pekovic

    If they take Kanter because they think he is a 5 that would be the best case. Split the time between he and Darko and let Pekovic be the 3rd guy incase someone gets hurt.

     

    Minny is pretty much lost and they are proving taking the best player irregardless of need is not the way to go.

    I think that Dalembert would be a  great signing for them.  He is the kind of defensive center that would help the front line, then they could afford to trade Pek or Darko.  Trade w/ Washington for the 2nd pick and get Young in the deal

    Rubio, Young, Beasley, Love and Dalembert

    Bench  Rindour, Johnson, Webster, Randolph and Darko
