RydermanParticipantA lot of talk has been made of the Suns drafting a PF with their pick. However, even though most mocks around the web have them drafting a big man, the Suns’ real need is a wing man that can create his own shot. Vince Carter and his eighteen million dollar contract won’t be around next season leaving Jared Dudley as their shooting guard. As much as I love Dudley and the energy he brings, he isn’t the future for the Suns.
With that being said, would you still take a big man with this pick knowing that your biggest weakness is at shooting guard and with Grant Hill (their other wing man) set to retire within a couple years? Do you go with upside or do you take someone who can contribute from day one knowing that Steve Nash can’t play forever?
If I’m the Suns, I’d go with Alec Burcs if he’s available at 13. If he’s not there, I say trade the pick.

stealsgaloreParticipantIf I were the Suns I’d just take the BPA, they’re soon to have holes at virtually every position besides center. I think Burks is a good option, but I’d rather wait and take a wing next year in a much deeper wing class (Barnes, Miller, Lamb, Rivers, Terrence Jones, Terrence Ross, Adonis Thomas) <– all of whom I think are better than Burks anyway. Unless they really tank it doesn’t appear that a top tier PF would be available to them next year so looking to fill that hole might be smart.
If I were the Suns I’d take a hard look at both Tobias Harris and Chris Singleton. Though it might be a slight reach for both of those players both could fill a hybrid SF/PF role, much like Marion used to. This would enable them to draft either a SG (Rivers, Beal, Lamb, Ross) or PG (Marshall, Teague, Kabongo)

TyroberParticipantThe Suns cant trade the pick. They probably have the worst future in the league imo. I have always been a huge Suns fan, but there is no young talent on this roster. We need to take a risky pick and hope it turns out well

MJBrownParticipantI’d be shocked if the top rated SG in the draft is available at the back end of the lottery. Seems like Milwaukee is a good fit and he will probably be the best player available if he’s actually still on the board. At the 13 spot, when all is said and done, I’d expect Harris and Singleton to be drafted somewhere in that neighbourhood. Either pick would suffice in terms of building towards making the playoffs again. Next year’s draft will help them more, as their talent base seems to be aging

gatorheelsParticipantI don’t think the Suns should draft a big man at all.
I think the team needs a Pure SG who can shoot or a versatile SF that is a very good defender.
The players that fit these needs aren’t worth taking at 13. Just not much value there. I think the Suns should try to trade down into the 20’s. There they could basically take their pick from who is available out of Klay Thompson, Marshon Brooks, Jordan Hamilton, Tyler Honeycutt & Chris Singleton. Any of those 5 players would be good fits for the Suns.
Or if the Suns can’t trade down then I would just take the BPA at 13. Then maybe Buy a pick in the late 20’s & try to get one of the 5 players above.

The White MambaParticipantI think they should take Chris Singleton, great defender on the wing and will thrive in Phonix’s run and gun system

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantBut they should look at taking the BPA at 13 wheiter its a Big man or not…I have a feeling Tristan Thompson might be their guy…I also think Leonard may be there at 13…the Suns actually draft very good players, they just don’t always keep them and it looks ugly later on, they traded guys like Rondo, Deng and Rudy Fernadez on draft night…they seem to might great picks and terrible moves after them…they should let their scouts pick the players and coach the team he drafts because I’m sure he’d create an interesting roster over the next three seasons…

HitsterParticipantAs a Suns fan I’d like them to take Jimmer but if they decide to resign Aaron Brooks then these two are too similar especially when you still have Nash there. I cannot see an obvious way for them to trade up short of maybe taking on an ugly contract perhaps for VC’s $4 million buyout but Sarver would surely not want that.
I’d certainly like to draft an SG or SF as the frontcourt is fairly deep with Gortat,Lopez,Dudley and Frye etc. I’d agree that Klay Thompson is probably the most realistic within there draft range unless Alex Burks happened to fall a few spots or we could somehow move up and try to get Vesley or Leonard.

JJeff6ParticipantThey have a more glaring need than a pf, as channing frye can definitely hold his own in that spot. They need a guy like Burks, but honestly im not at all excited for this draft and what the suns may get out of it, maybe a good role player? Ive always said that if you know you arent making the playoffs, you might as well have a bomb of a season and have a good shot at a good lotto pick. The suns are in a terrible spot, not quite good enough for the play offs but not quite bad enough for a good lotto pick. im saying all hands on deck and do the best that you can, but if its clear they arent making the playoffs by early next year, im hoping for some luck and a good chance at a good future star in next years draft.
