If you look at Jay Wright’s 4 guard system, you would think it helps his guards play translate to something decent in the NBA, due to the fact that even the PG will play off the ball at times. Not 1 of his guards are NBA starters! Correction Lowry only because Brooks is gone. Foye is the only one who has been giving good production as a role player. Ray has been out the league for a long while now, Reynolds just does not have what it takes as a PG and Fisher is on the verge of not making it either. IMO Wayns will be "The One" to break the on going cycle of Nova guards not having what it takes.

Is it something Wright is doing wrong for his players not to make it at the next level?

You know considering how well the guards have done in college I have wondered why they haven’t panned out as well in the pros too. Lowry is the only consistent one.

It can also be a compliment to jay wright for getting the most out of his guards while they play under him making them look better for NBA scouts

I think the big problem with the guards he has is that most of them are slashers and don’t shoot the 3 enough where they are not good perimeter shooters. Due to this and the next level a lot of the layups that got in college they don’t get in the pros, and b/c they are underdeveloped as outside shooters there games are very very one-demensional. In the case with Lowry he worked on his outside shot and became a starter this year b/c of his hard work as a perimeter player. He is still just a mediocre outside shooter at this point in his career.

Who is the most complete PG amongst Lowry, Fisher, Wayns?

Realistically, they’ve all just been "good" in many areas, but not "great" in just one area. None of the guards have had that explosiveness we’ve seen from the more successful guards coming into the league today. Lowry is consistent, because what he doesn’t have in quickness to the basket, he makes up for with his strength/size as a guard. He’s also one of the more overlooked defenders in the NBA, he’s quite good defensively.

I also feel the same way about Malik Wayns, that he’ll also translate into a better pro than the previous Nova guards. Wayns may even be a better player in a more "traditional" offense than the Nova set, so the adjustment wouldn’t be an issue for him when entering the league.

It is obviously Lowry because he has found a role in the league. It’s a bad comparison to compare Lowry to two guys that have yet to play in the NBA, if they ever will.

I think Wayns can be Lowry…….He already has the blow by quickness that Lowry had while at Nova. Wayns is pushing 190 & I can see him bulking up to that 200-205 range like Lowry to add on strength which is getting Lowry by.

It’s not like the guards he’s recruited have been the one’s Calipari has recruited though. They get good guards who are given a certain level of freedom and play a certain style where they can have relative success at the college level. And in regards to Foye, he just hasn’t been able to find a spot where he’s been give the keys and allowed to drive. His last year in Minny, he put up good numbers and was showing signs of being a solid starter. But he gets traded then other things happen that somewhat derails his career. But its just all a matter of circumstances. But in general, just cause you have an good college career, doesn’t guarantee anything at the next level.

I think Maalik Wayns could have a season similar to Kemba Walker next year. He’s also a very similar prospect to Walker. I’m not saying he’ll lead Nova to a title, but he will emerge as one of the top 3 guards in the nation next year. That’s my early bold prediction.

The answer as to why Nova’s guards don’t translate is simple. They simply aren’t PG’s in most cases. Randy Foye, Scottie Reynolds, Allen Ray, and Corey Fihser aren’t PG’s. And only Foye is big enough to play SG, and even as a natural SG he has to play PG to alleviate bis lack of size for the wing. Lowry is the only one who is a PG, and even he still has a somewhat shaky understanding of the PG position. Nova has a bunch of talented college scorers who aren’t real PG’s, and that can be easily be exposed in the NBA.

Randy Foye has shown that if given minutes and opportunity he can be a good player. Foye last season on the T’Wolves he went head to head with D Wade in a great game. If you didnt know the names you would not have known who was the superstar. After the game Spolestra said "Foye gave Wade all he could handle." Foye also showed well when Eric Gordon went down. Lowry was a good guard as well in Memphis, but they liked Conley, and he has shown he can play in Houston now too.

Reynolds was never suited for the pros, he was a good college guard, as was Ray. Neither was great ball handler and were streaky shooters.Fisher has game, some of the best handles around, but he has a scorers mentality and weight problem. Wayns has a chance to be a solid pro if he improves his shooting.

I was so upset Scottie Reynolds did not get at least a chance in the NBA he was an all american for crying outloud! He should have been a secound round pick at the very least. If Jimmer can be a lottery pick, why cant Scottie be a draft pick?

"If Jimmer can be a lottery pick, why cant Scottie be a draft pick?"

Because Scottie Reynolds is a ball-dominant 6’0 combo guard who lacks quickness and athleticism, and who had a bad shot selection for no real reason.
