lukestine13ParticipantWith the players the jazz have coming in for a workout on sunday makes me think they are trading down or are looking to acquire another pick in the draft. Only one of the guys, one of the Morris brothers, is a projected lottery pick. with the rest being late first rounders or second rounders. The other thing that is weird of the six players four of them are bigs. Not really a team need unless you are looking to trade one you already have.

CalipariParticipantThere has been a lot of talk, at least on this site, of Utah’s future direction. I really believe they should trade Jefferson. Secure a franchise PG (lol, no easy task), build around their core, and they will return to success sooner rather than later.

lukestine13ParticipantI feel the same that we should trade jefferson but he makes too much to be easily traded. I think of the jazz’s bigs that have the most trade value that they would consider trading is Okur and Millsap neither of which i want to see go anywhere.

Stojakovicfor3ParticipantI don’t think so. The T’Wolves had Kalin Lucas, Michael Dunigan, Justin Holiday, Jamie Skeen, Ben Hansbrough, and E’Twaun Moore at their workout and the Wolves have the 2nd and 20th picks in the draft. They wouldn’t use one of their picks on them for sure. All of those guys are second rounders or undrafted players.

chevilicousParticipantChad ford stated the jazz are looking at the possibility of trading up, trading down or trading out all together, but realistically, I think all GM’s look at these options every single year, you have to analyze everything that’s on the table otherwise you aren’t pro-actively trying to improve your team.

laarethekingsParticipantThey are not trading Jefferson guys, they just gave up two first round picks for him last off season. I think they take Knight at three and best SF/SG at 12 Marcus Morris or Thompson. Sit back and let this young team grow. Going into next season…
Harris/ Knight
Hayward/Bell
Miles/ Lets say Morris
Favors/Milsap
Jefferson/Okur
Having a core of young players of Knight, Favors, Hayward and Morris…

CalipariParticipantlaarethekings, just because they gave up 2 picks for Jefferson in a salary dump last year doesn’t mean he’s staying put. With a burdensome contract, (yes, this is a negative in a a trade too) he shouldn’t be around. Why keep him? He doesn’t provide leadership, he isn’t a team-oriented guy, and he’s rather slow. Somebody will be offering up some pieces for him because the NBA is size-starved.
Also, no one is taking Okur from the Jazz, not until at least mid-season when he can prove he is healthy. Trading him clears more room for Favors, leaves open the possibility of drafting Kanter, and will provide financial flexibility. These are the things that rebuilding/retooling teams look for. And don’t tell me that it won’t be possible to trade a guy who is 6-10 and averages 19 and 9.

lukestine13Participanttrue they gave up two first rounders for him one which minny gets this this year via memphis from the Ronnie Brewer trade. i would like to see him gone and get this rebuilding process started. It will be really hard for the jazz to develop there young guys with harris and jefferson dominating the ball on offense. Jefferson does not make his teammates better he is not a good option to have on a team that is in rebuilding mode.

WizardofOzParticipantAs a Jazz fan, would you do this trade.
Wizards send #6 for Mehmet Okur and #3
Why for the Jazz: By the trading for Okur, it gives the Jazz almost $11 Million in cap relief THIS YEAR… Frees up additional minutes for Derrick Favors and with the #6 pick, they should still be able to get their guy in the draft (It’s rumored they like Brandon Knight and/or Kemba Walker)…
Why for the Wiz: Meanwhile, the Wizards take on Okur and his $10.8 Million salary and get the #3 pick in the draft. The Wizards can draft Turkish big man Enes Kanter – It just so happens that Okur is also Turkish, and can not only mentor Kanter but also help him adjust to the NBA lifestyle.
It’s a win-win for both teams… Just the kind of trade that SHOULD happen on draft night.
And if you don’t like that deal, what about #6+#18 for #3

SwatLakeCityParticipantUtah might trade down, up or out of the draft entirely but I wouldn’t say this just because they are inviting a "poor" class to their first day of workouts that they would be looking to do this. I mean sure if teams had it their way they would find a way to look at all draft prospects, that they would be sure that whatever they decide to do, it is the right decision. This is just the first set of workouts. There is still 4 weeks left until the draft, I’m sure the next workout will have a lot of lottery prospects, no need to fret about a trade being in the works.
It doesn’t matter if Utah is loaded at the PF or C, they should still look at other PF’s or Centers just to see if they want to trade one of their current PF, or Centers and they need to be well rounded in all their workouts that way they don’t miss out on someone.

laarethekingsParticipantThere would be no way the Raps let Knight slip past them at 5… As wiz fan you can dream tho

lukestine13Participant@wizardofoz
that is a terrible trade if you’re the jazz. The jazz are looking for immediate help at 3 and Knight seems like more of a project i think they are looking at Kanter with their first pick and jimmer at 12.

CalipariParticipantThat’s a good thought wizard, but I just don’t see it happening. Utah probably rather hold on to Okur, get him healthy and flip him at the deadline, rather than dump him while moving down 3 spots in a very weak draft. The difference between 3 and 6 is immense. You have the possibility of getting 1 of Williams/Kanter/Irving, while guaranteeing Knight is available, whereas at 6 none of these players will be available, unless Knight slips down, and that is extremely unlikely. I’m sure the Wizards would love that trade though.
