franfranParticipantOklahoma send Russell Westbrook
Boston send Rajon Rondo
Boston received a franchise player for the next years and lowerthe average age of team
Oklahoma receives real playmaker, which will allow progress toHarden and Ibaka Offensive, and will allow Durant to average 30-35 points per game

Tobe BryantParticipantI did the same trade in the ESPN Trade Machine a few weeks back. This one matched up financially:
NOLA Sends:
Chris Paul (PG), 2011 Picks
OKC Sends:
Russell Westbrook (PG), Nick Collison (PF)
I like it because I believe Chris Paul is too GREAT of a player to just be in New Orleans wasting his talents for a franchise whom may never win a championship, nor contend. NO gets a legitimate all-star PG and building block for the future.
OKC gets a PASS-FIRST PG who like you mentioned, will not stunt James Harden’s growth and definitely get Durant the ball in places where he needs and wants it. He can also take some of the pressure off of Durant as far as leadership wise.

fredrock34Participantif boston was to trade rondo for westbrook danny ainge would loose his job right after that trade goes down. Westbrook is a great player but his not a point guard. his an iverson type of player thats always looking to get his points not his teammates involve. Rondo has more upside since is easier to become a good shooter than to become a great playmaker.

CalipariParticipantNo way New Orleans pulls the trigger on any deal resembling a straight-up Westbrook/Paul swap. Their likely to demand inclusion of one of Harden/Ibaka, and that is when the Thunder should walk away. Yes, Paul is an amazing talent, but harden has yet to prove that he is a viable second option, and low-post scoring is rare. Ibaka will surely develop, but even now he scores mostly off little jumpers. Harden should be the starting 2 guard next year, but that is only if they boost scoring on the bench. Russel can only get better, and you have to at least play up to next year’s trading deadline to see what the future really is. Bottom line, don’t trade Westbrook. No need to deplete additional assets when the sky is the limit.
P.S: The Westbrook/Rondo swap might sound ok, but you have to realize that assuming Sefolosha remains starting, they will only have two players in their starting 5 of scoring over 20. (Certainly Rondo has the potential, and Harden could be moved to start, but why pull the trigger if there is just going to be more ifs.)
