McDunkinGuard Katin Reinhardt of Mater Dei High has decommitted from USC, a source within the basketball program confirmed.
The source described the parting as mutual and stemming primarily from a disagreement about Reinhardt’s projected role on the team. Reinhardt committed to USC on Dec. 31, 2010.
ESPN.com ranks Reinhardt, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, as the 58th-best prospect in the class of 2012.
USC’s ’12 recruiting class now consists of guard Larry Lewis of Arcadia High in Phoenix and forward Ari Stewart, a transfer from Wake Forest.

McDunkin notes
He doesnt have much hype but i like his game.
Pretty much from what i read his dad wants him to be a starter in hopes of being one and done.
ESPN now says he is considering Utah, Colorado, UCLA
and here is their souting report on him.
Strengths:
Reinhardt is an athletic scoring guard who is multi-skilled. He is quite potent in the transition game where he can attack the rim or deliver a nifty assist. He has a very advanced pull-up game and he is one of the few players that uses glass on his jump shot from the side of each court. He gets great lift on his shot and the trajectory on his shot is excellent. His handle is slick and clever, especially his patented two-dribble-left-to-right-crossover. Reinhardt has remarkable vision which has helped expand his game.Weaknesses:
Reinhardt can definitely knock down the 3-point shot, but he has a tendency to rely on it too much instead of taking what defense gives him. By improving his fundamentals (jump stop) and mid-range game, his efficiency will improve. In addition, much of his game is predicated on flash (too much dribbling) rather than substance, he had become more turnover prone. He has a tendency to make the spectacular pass or shot rather than making the high basketball IQ play. Defensively, he needs to pay more attention to detail. His energy level in that area tends to be inconsistent and he needs to get better at bending his knees and getting into a proper stance.Bottom line:
By simplifying the game, Reinhardt can become a much more efficient player. If Reinhardt learns to take care of the ball more and become a more fundamental and efficient player at both ends, he should be an excellent player wherever he ends up.http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/68087/katin-reinhardt

McDunkinIt now looks like along with Utah, Colorado, UCLA. Arizona is the latest school to extend an offer to Katin Reinhardt who de-committed from USC. The Wildcats join Syracuse, Baylor, Arizona State, Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Texas as the main schools in the mix at this point.

mikeyvthedonParticipantGuess we are not in the mix for Katin. Interesting situation, I can not completely blame Kevin O’Neill for his stance, though he could be missing out on a solid player. USC seems to be fairly set for the wing though, but I feel taking the stance of wanting to be a starter in hopes of being one and done might be the wrong approach. Still, he is definitely one of the better 2 guard prospects for 2012. Moved down to 65 in the latest ESPN ratings, #11 SG, but my guess is that these will change radically after the summer.
