NickWayne87ParticipantFirst I talked about a player who should’ve went (Kyle Singler) now here’s one who should STAY…and it pisses me off that he doesn’t…..i’m from this area, he played games against my old high school in illinois right down the street from my house (after i was out of there though i’m 23 yrs old) his name is Jereme Richmond. I believe he should stay two more years what in the hell are they telling this kid….by his junior year i believe he’d be ATLEAST a top 10 pick if not top 5. He’s oozing potential, too much to be taken in the second round, and he may not get drafted. He’d be the focal point next year and just think he could vastly improve his stock.

GrandmamaParticipantHe left because he was in some trouble at Illinois and was probably going to be kicked off the team. If so, he would have to transfer and sit out a year, something he didn’t want to do. He should have tried keeping his head on straight…

NashyMingParticipantIt looks like he was in a bad situation at Illinois. Either he did something not cool or his relationship with the coaching staffs/teammates were messed up. Regardless, I don’t think he should stay there because it can only get worse (the coach can simply bench him, suspend him, or kick him off the team if things don’t work out). If he doesn’t declare, he would get stuck in a situation where he would have to transfer and red-shirt a year.
If I were Jereme Richmond, I would definitely come out after such a lousy situation. I definitely wouldn’t want someone who probably doesn’t like me to control my destiny. If Jereme Richmond didn’t have to go to college, he probably would make the jump from high school. School just isn’t for everyone.
I like the fact that Jereme Richmond realized the fact and the potential future he would have (probably spend 2 years in D-League / Europe to develop). As long as he embraces playing / developing in the D-League or even spending sometime in Europe, I think he can turn out ok. Guys like Stephen Jackson, Anthony Parker spent time in Europe to develop their games before coming back to play in the NBA.
College is overrated and it’s not for everybody.
