NickWayne87ParticipantKyle Singler should took the one and done route and came out his freshman year. Why? I don’t know if yall remember, but back then he was projected to be a top 5 pick…….but look at where he’s projected now…..every year his stock slipped and now he’s a projected second round pick. In a WEAK draft.

Scottoant93ParticipantTrue but if he is that bad, He would have been a bust, and wouldn’t have a national championship. I dont think he will be anything special but he might suprise us you never know. I would rather be drafted in the 2nd round then be considered a bust

French FlairParticipantIt’s unfair to see a player who’s better now (than in his freshman year) falling low in this draft, the team who pick him will have a good player in his rotation and quickly effective.

Lotto StudParticipantIt will be very interested to see what his collegiate game translates to in the NBA……Will he be an Adam Morrison?

OhCanada-ParticipantSingler will be a 1st round draft pick this year. If he isnt teams missed out on a valueable role player, plain and simple.

Scottoant93ParticipantI know you mean talent wise because morrison was picked 3rd overall, but yeah theres a chance he will be out of the league, and overseas(which I think morrison isn’t even signed and playing anymore..if anyone can update that would be helpful)
@French Flair, I agree some 4 year players are really deserving of being drafted high but slip because someone younger is available and has potential(which 95% of the time they never reach)

What The DevilParticipantI think it will work out for him. Now even if he is a bust he still at least has a degree to show for his time in college. I wish more would stay all 4 years in college to better themselves both in their game and academically.

NickWayne87Participantshould’ve capitalized on his stock his freshman year and tried to get better while in the nba…..if he would’ve ended up out of the nba doing that he’ll probably still end up being out of the nba now……no better way to get better for the nba than in the nba I say. NCAA Championships don’t pay the bills….being even at the end of an NBA bench does lol.

OhCanada-ParticipantA Duke graduate should have no problem paying his bills, let alone Kyle Singler…

Im Your FatherParticipantHe never would have been a star in the league. He has actually improved his game a lot since his freshman year, even though his stock dropped, and this way he has his degree.

bennydabullParticipant^^ What are you talking about? That doesn’t even make sense. Singler enjoyed college – I know people at Duke and they love it there. He won an NCAA championship, got his degree, and is now going to be a 1st round draft pick. I think he’s going to be a solid role player in the NBA because he’s smart, talented, and a hard worker. Even if it doesn’t work out, he has a degree, which is something a lot of the players that left after 1 year of college can’t say.
Edit- directed at NickWayne87, not you OhCanada

French FlairParticipantbut paying the bills don’t make you a better player… teams pay too much for potential and not enough for real skills.

JNixonParticipantYou don’t even have to go back as far as his Fr. year, he could’ve left last year as a Junior and would’ve likely been a 1st round guy. Hindsight is definitely 20/20, but hewould’ve been smart to leave last year. He really didn’t have anything to prove at the college level, since Duke got a title that year and he’s still the same good but not great shooter (who went through a pretty ugly shooting season) and tweener with below average size and athleticism that he’s always been.
He’ll get a chance to play at the NBA level, and he’ll probably struggle to play much or have a great impact at the NBA level just like he would have if he would’ve left early though so it’s no big deal.

PlatypusParticipantA taller Korver or Mike Dunleavey
0 - Posted on: Mon, 05/23/2011 - 4:26pm #535175

JNixonParticipantExpect nowhere near as good a perimeter player or talent as Dunleavy Jr. when he’s healthy, and not the pure shooter Korver is. Singler isn’t that good a prospect to me, he’s still more of a tweener than either one of those guys and not athletic or strong enough to defend SF’s.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantHe reminds me of a poor man’s Mike Miller. He made a mistake by staying longer than he should have but I never thought he’d be more than a fringe rotational player anyway.

kobyzParticipanthe remind me Shawne Williams in terms of skills and style.

JoeWolf1Kyle will play at the very minimum 2 or 3 years in the league or if he finds a nitche 10+ and he has a degree from Duke. I think he’s probably okay with his decision.

r377ParticipantOn another note I did think about Kyle the other day. Is playing overseas and will be in a pistons uniform next season….
Do you think he will actually make the roster and if so what sort of contribution do you think he will make ?
