Is he a 1st option player? He is built like a #1 option, his mind-set, drive. My only concern is his mid-long range shooting and decision making which going into his 4th year should be better than it is. However, i think he can up his avg to 23-25ppg/9-11assts/4-6rebs as the main option on offense.

Can you win a Chip with him as a 1st option? With the right players around him i think he can be a center piece for a Chip team. Pair him with a Dominant Big, defensive stalwarts & One or Two dead-eye shooters. The major ? is can he recieve the discipline it takes to be the #1 guy on the team.

Where can he be a first option player? Teams that have great 2nd options but lack that 1st option that can take over a game.

If he really improves his shot and improves his pg skills, particularly his ability to run the fast break when the defense gets back, then he could be a 1st option.  He would need other great players around him, but every player in the league does.

Right now he can be the first option on a borderline playoff team, but I don’t see him winning a championship unless he improves his shooting and decision making a lot or has a team packed with 3 pt shooters, cause if you pack the paint he starts to force things, take bad shots, turn the ball over.

His physical gifts are amazing, one of the best in the NBA in that department but still, he turns the ball over almost 4 times a game, leading the league.

Actually, I think he will figure it out with Oklahoma  City.  KD needs an outspoken guy to play with him.  I think they can share the ball ok.  I think they actually work together better than Wade and LeBron (who are both athletic wings who like to drive and are spotty jump shooters), or the Knicks combo of Amare and Carmelo who are two guys who like to isolate, do a lot of scoring from mid-range, and are both solid but not great rebounders.  Amare and Carmelo aren’t great defenders and both need the ball to score.

The Thunder need a 3rd guy on that team who is a strong personality who can create for others.  James Harden seems like he is that guy.  He can take some pressure off Durant and Westbrook.  A few more things that would help would be if they added a veteran point guard to provide leadership and experience, and a big man who can score inside and has decent post moves.

Yeah, Garnett and Marbury never figured it out, but they were both loud and outspoken with a ton of swagger.  The great Payton/Kemp combo figured it out, and I think it helped that GP was more outspoken and a vocal leader with Kemp being more of a guy who just does his thing.  The KG/Marbury team never had any real veteran leadership while the Sonics had Nate McMillan, Detlef Shrempf, and Sam Perkins.

He can be a 1st option, but his team wouldn’t be a contender though more than likely.

He can definitely be a 1st option, sorta like what Monta Ellis is, but he will have to be surrounded with the right players to be a contender.
