More realistic than the previous one

    NBA Draft

    #17- Bismack Biyombo C/F

Trade Douglas/Fields/3mil Cash to Dallas for the #26 and Deshawn Stevenson

    #26- Nolan Smith G

Buy an early 2nd round pick

    2nd Rounder- Justin Harper F

    Bring over Jerom Jordan C

    Free Agency

Available- MLE, Bi annual exception and minimums

    MLE- Shannon Brown (3yrs/17mil)(Team Option)

Bi Annual Exception- sign Mickael Pietrus(2yrs/3.47mil)(Team Option

    Re-sign Shawne Williams(1 year/880,000K) and Anthony Carter(Vets Minimum)

    Depth Chart

    F- Anthony/Pietrus/Williams

    F- Stoudemire/Harper

    C- Biyombo/Jordan/Turiaf

    G- Brown/Stevenson

    G- Billups/Smith/Carter

    So

6 guys return(Anthony, Stoudemire, Billups, Williams, Turiaf and Carter)

They get younger and more athletic(Brown, Smith, Biyombo, Jordan and Harper)

They add defensive players who fit the uptempo system(Pietrus, Stevenson, Biyombo and Jordan)

They add depth up front(Biyombo and Jordan)

4 rookies in your rotation may hurt but they have solid vets to help each one of them grow

3 pt shooting(Williams, Harper and Stevenson)

They maintain flexibility to add Chris Paul, even have some assets to make a mid season trade for CP3

Now I know ima receive heat as usual but this is very realistic and I know most if wont happen but if it did happen I’d be a happy camper going forward

    Looking forward to your comments

so let me get this right… you trade douglas and fields, not to mention 3 million in cash, for deshawn stevenson and nolan smith?  im sure theres better possibilities out there than that.

Steveson is also a free agent i think.  Dallas has a late first rounder. Why would you trade two young promising players for a late draft pick and a potential free agent.  I am glad you are not the Knicks Gm. Sorry if i seem harsh.

Some decent ideas but I for one cannot see Biyombo being ready to start at C for a couple of years so unless the Knicks can get a veteran C and develop Biyombo behind him then drafting Biyombo would not be on the cards for me.

The likes of Nolan Smith would be a nice pick up for the Knicks but I cannot see them buying a pick from Dallas who often buys in themselves. My one idea might be trade 17th to Chicago for 28th and 30th and try to draft Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler who are probably as NBA ready as they will ever be and would give the Knicks nice bench depth and then sign a big with their MLE.

But Shannon Brown is a nice idea and Pietrus if they do persue one of them.

The Knicks need to go after DeAndre Jordan.  They really need a defensive center.  Maybe they can take a gamble on Greg Oden.

At 17, it will depend on who is there.  If Jimmer is still on the board the Knicks have to roll the dice.  Jimmer and Douglas would be two good scoring point guards going forward.  Not sure that Biyombo will be there.

I don’t really like the Knicks too much.  Carmelo and Amare are both iso-type players who make their money on mid-range jumpers.  Both are solid rebounders, not great.  Neither are great defenders.  Landry Fields is a good player who rebounds well for a shooting guard.  I like Shawne Williams a lot but he can’t really start with Amare and Carmelo, and he is mostly a jump shooter like the Big Two and Landry Fields.  I don’t think Billups will carry them into the second round, might need to trade him.  Douglas looks like a solid sixth man.

The Knicks are a poor man’s version of the Heat, and I am not sure how far that gets you.  Not sure that Carmelo and Amare complement each other that well.  They still need a very good center and a very good point guard to compete — but so does every other team.

I don’t see them getting home court advantage in the second round next year.  The top two seeds out East next year will be Chicago and Miami again with the Knicks, Celtics, Hawks, and Magic competing for the 3rd and 4th seeds.

Pietrus has a player option for $5M with the Suns.  I doubt he declines since he won’t get it on the open market.

Good plan overall minus the trade.  I think the Knicks should just look into buying a second round pick and pick up a backup PG or C.

As for free agents why not Samuel Dalembert for the MLE?  He’s a good shot blocker and rebounder and his defense would be an upgrade over what they have now.

Also they do not have enough to trade for Chris Paul unless its some kind of Pau Gasol type of trade in which the other 28 teams are screaming bloody murder.  Temper your expectations Knick Fans

One way or another I feel the knicks will end up with a spot up knock down 3 pt shooter at the wing positions. As good as Shawne(y) proved to be shooting the 3, I’m not comfortable with him being our only one. We need some floor spacers.

I keep thinking of different possibilities, I forgot DS was a FA but I feel DS would better for us than Fields as he is a better player and we need vets, Smith will be better than Douglas and the cash will help Dallas since they got some big contracts and every dollar counts
