This guy has been on crack ever since he traded Perk, and after hearing about this I’m pretty sure Danny Ainge wants to bang Jeff Green lol…..

It’s actually not that bad an idea, Green starting would boost his confidence and preserve Pierce throughout the regular season. They would ideally split minutes equally in regular season, and then Pierce could step it up in playoffs. Pierce would give their bench a better scorer seeing as Big Baby is nowhere to be seen, and Green would be more effective playing in the starting lineup with less pressure to score a whole bunch of points.

As a Celtics fan, I wouldn’t mind this, anything to keep our starters fresh and injury free for one more crack at it. It’s the only upside of a lock-out, that the Celtics wouldn’t have to endure another 82 game season.

    A) What did ainge say to make you think he wants to "bang" jeff green? he just made a statement about how roles may change…smh

    B) The celtics benching their franchise player in favor of a mediocre combo forward? I think Ainge is just blowing some steam off cuz hes pissed at the results…trust me, Paul Pierce will be the starting 3 next year for the celtics

I should add that I don’t think Green will actually start, but Pierce will spend more time with the bench unit and receive less minutes.

Retaining Green should be a priority given the lack of depth on this Celtics team. Plus when Pierce eventually does retire Green has a great deal of potential as a starting SF where he has always belonged. If they don’t retain Jeff Green essentially you traded Kendrick Perkins for a half year rental of Jeff Green who didn’t get many minutes. I can’t imagine how the fan base would react to that. I think Rondo and Green are a solid foundation if you can add a star to that base once KG, Allen, and Pierce are gone.

It isn’t a bad idea. The Celtics lack a playmaker when Rondo and Pierce are out of the game, and moving Pierce to the bench could help them. Not sure it will happen, but if Pierce was willing to move to the bench, the Celtics 2nd unit would be improved, and Pierce still could play similar minutes. My problem with this is that I am not a big Jeff Green fan, but he could at least be hidden on the first unit and not be asked to try to do to much in the halfcourt. He would also have Garnett behind him to help nullify his defensive liabilities.

Jeff Green isn’t that good. He’s too passive and plays scared.

    I agree with Indiana.

Green always looks scared to do something with the ball.  Even when he has some rhythm and has something good going, he still seems scared and nervous.

I disagree, I think Green will be able to fit his correct position as a 6th man with a full season in Boston.

Part of Jeff Green playing scared is the factor of playing with Pierce, Allen, Garnett, Rondo and now instead of being the 3rd option on the team, he doesn’t know what he role exactly is. Hopefully next year, if they retain him, they can have a set role for him which will allow him to become more comfortable.

Green’s future is key to Boston’s as well. As constructed, though possible, it reamins highly unlikely that the Celtics will win the NBA Champoinship next year. Actually trading Pierce could be crucial to Boston’s long term success. I do not consider this likely, nor am I advocating that Ainge SHOULD do this, but it is certianly a possibility. If you get a young big, 2012 no.1, and expiring for Pierce, that is a pretty fair deal. I understand that he’s been in Boston for his career, but he is from the west coast. I saw an article throwing out the possibility of sending him to the Clippers. This is far-fetched but trading Pierce could reap benefits. consider Boston’s long term (beyond next season) assets like this:

Rondo- top 5 PG in league

Jeff Green – combo forward, gritty guy, possible 6th man or starter at the 3

Glen Davis- solid bench 4, probably will price himself too high in free agency

Avery Bradley- undersized guard, opportunity to become a solid rotation contributor

2011, 2012 picks (likely to be late picks)

Not a lot to work with, but add in a high selection in 2012, and another young big, and there is at least a future.

Just throwing ideas out there, let me know what you think.

For Jeff Green I always thought he played fearless in OKC but when he got to Boston he got "scared" so to say. I think he hasn’t played in that kind of environment (more veterans, everyone gets a lot of touches as opposed to OKC). He also seemed like he didn’t know what he was doing on the court most of the time whenever I watched playoff games. I just think he needs to adjust to the playing style of the Celtics and he’ll be fine.

He’s played tentative ever since he became a four and just another piece to the puzzles. Green as a starter could actually be a good thing as he played quite well before being moved to the 4 I thought. Let’s not forget he was actually a point forward at Georgetown. The potential is there and working with Pierce culd work wonders. for his game. Similar physical profile’s and athleticism, while actually being slightly taller.

Jeff Green only really played 4 at OKC because Kevin Durant had to play at SF, he is more a natural SF than PF and Boston can find minutes for him at both positions but mainly SF. Paul Pierce can play a bit of SG if needed so Jeff can get a fair few minutes if they retain him.
