The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantA sign and trade of Thad Young for Nene would be ideal, the Nuggets could use an athlete like Young and the Sixers need a starting Center…

BKKnicksfanParticipantIf Philadelphia 2012 1st round pick is thrown in there, I could see Denver doing that deal. You have to remember, Denver is giving up their best player

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI think Nene has been an Underachiever his entire career…With his skills he should be a top 3 or 5 center, right now he’s in the top 10..Becuz he plays physical, has a nice post game and runs the floor well…But he Isnt a great rebounder and he disappears in some games….
He become a little more aggressive offensively after the Melo trade and looked like an all league performer during that span..I guess losing Melo open the floor up and gave him more touches..Hopefully teams will remember that Nene this summer. Not the Inconsistent one playing with Melo….

BKKnicksfanParticipantYou forget he tore his ACL. Zapped alot of his vertical game.

SwatLakeCityParticipantWhat about Houston. I thought for sure that team would be mentioned by now. They desperately need a Center especially one of his caliber.

ghrghrParticipantThe thing about Nene is that sometimes it seems he is too unselfish, or he doesn’t want to take a shot unless it’s an extremely high percentage shot. If he can’t get where he wants he won’t shoot. That’s why he has such a high FG%, but it’s not always good for the team, sometimes you have to go there and take a shot because maybe it’s the best shot the team can get on that posession. Also, his rebounding has always been below average.
Other than that, he is a great player and a guy who survived cancer and came back a better player. An upgrade at C for almost every team in the league. Can even play PF if he isn’t guarding a perimeter oriented PF.

PlatypusParticipantChandler is likely to leave and Cuban will throw all the money he can at him. i just see nene going whoever throws the most $ at him

kngojcParticipantWhat about the Timberwolves? They need a center and a veteran that can tell them what to do. I think it would make him into a better player being the go-to guy. It could definitely help the rest of the team and I think that Kahn would even take a shot at him just to add another veteran center that can help out the rest of the squad improve.
I could also see this not happening because Kahn likes Darko too much. If not them, I think the Raptors should try to pursue him.

AKOOParticipantHe is good but not great. I have always questioned rather he would be better served as a PF also. He has major flaws. I mean he does not rebound great nor does he defend the rim but he is a tough minded player, just seems like it mostly shows on offense. I think he is playing himself if he thinks he is worth more than $12 million a year on the open market. If he opts out here is what is out there in terms of C’s this summer.
1 Marc Gasol
2 Nene
3 Tyson Chandler
4 Dalembert
5 Deandre Jordan
6 Greg Oden
7 Spencer Hawes
Not a bad group but if you are looking at defense alone Nene drops from 2 to 6. He is only better than Hawes on D.

mikeyvthedonParticipantWas reporting he could seriously consider the Spurs. They could really use him, not to mention he is close with Tiago Splitter. I could see that happening, though of course he would probably have to sacrifice quite a bit of salary. He would have to sign for the midlevel, as San Antonio has no real cap room whatsoever, and I doubt they have anything attractive for a sign and trade. So, basically, Nene would be giving up 6 million at least, as he would be opting out of a 12 million dollar pay day next year.
One team that finds themselves in a great cap situation to possibly land Nene this summer would be the Thunder. I am guessing they are around 9 million under if the cap stays around the same amount. Yes, they have just signed Perkins and probably will go after someone more economically feasible, but Nene would be a huge get for them. He is very hard to push around, and while he has had injury concerns, their is no doubt that he could really bolster a teams front court. He could potentially slide to PF most definitely, and he might be another option for the Nets as well.
Remember, Gasol is restricted, as are everyone on the above list other than Chandler and Dalembert. You can hope to sign them, but you are going to have to pay a high price, otherwise the teams will likely match their salary. I would guess with Nene, if he does opt out, he wants to win, so the Spurs could be a possibility. He has made a very nice living, but 12 mill or another big long term deal might be difficult to turn down.

HitsterParticipantThe Spurs would be a good fit and after their play off exit then I’m sure Coach Poppovich and Rick Burford will look to make a few moves. The Spurs have a fairly deep frontcourt but Tim Duncan is nearly 35 years old now and Diceman may retire so they may have an opening for Nene.
One way to work it could be to do an S and T whereby say the Spurs send a pick, Diceman and some money to Denver for Nene. This way Nene gets a better deal and Denver get something in return to help them continue their rebuilding, the money that the Spurs send to Denver could be used to buyout Diceman who may just retire anyway so everyone is a winner. Both Dallas and the Lakers effectively sent retired players to NJ and Memphis for the Kidd and Pau Gasol trades so the Spurs would be doing nothing worse than that.
I also like Nene on the Pacers roster as a PF this gives them huge frontcourt size and with their cap space they could offer him a generous deal
If Nene is considering taking around MLE then I’d guess the Knicks might look at him as they already have Dalambert as their main target but Nene could be a nice alternative.
