He must be an avid reader of these forums because he is reminding us all, that when healthy, is the clear cut, hands down, best PG in the league. He is killing this series!

Lakers does have one of (if not the worst next to the Heat) sets of PGs. But he is killing them, and is making a series out of it.

I think everyone knows I am one of the biggest Rose fans on here….but….Paul is by far the better true PG. Rose is a better scorer and more explosive and yada yada yada. They play the same position very differently.

Exactly, the "Fisher can’t guard anyone" excuse can’t be used here. The Lakers have a tough time defending dribble penetration like they always have, dating back to the finals in 07 with Rondo.

1 good series against the worst PG combination (fish, blake) in the NBA doesnt make him IMMDEDIATELY better than rose who is also having a very good series against a decent PG (darren collison)

lakers have a very hard time with the quicker point guards…and chris paul is just loving that.

Even tho Kobe has been guarding Paul, Paul doesn’t have to exert as much energy on Defense guarding the likes of Fisher and Blake. So Paul has an advantage playing against the Lakers, and is a good match up for him.

He is the best true PG in my opinion, Rose is tearing up the league this year but Paul hands down is a better true PG. The only aspect of the game rose is better at is scoring and that is something I dont look for out of my point guard.

TaylorCondrin, as far as being an all around floor general, Paul is clearly better than Rose right now in their careers. That is no knock on Rose at all.

"IMMEDIATELY" make him better than Rose? ? I think he’s played a few games before these 4.

I think what Faction is saying, this is the guy that lead the league in assists twice and steals four times (out of six years) while scoring 20 points a game on pretty decent shooting percentages. People aren’t saying one series tells us everything, but the six year career before these games told us something. The only question has been how much the knee has recovered. It would be great if Paul was fully recovered. Especially since I hope to get him in a Knick uniform sometime next season.

The strange thing is that the Lakers have been getting killed by small point guards since they started Magic in the 80s. I’m not sure if they have had a PG that was good at defending smaller guards ever as far as I can recall. That one year with Gary Payton was too late in Gary’s career when his defense was no longer elite.

I’ve been saying it. Rose is the most valuable player though. I’ve always felt that Paul is the best pure PG in the NBA though. Rose is great, unbelievable even, but he’s not the playmaker Paul is by a good bit. And Paul is very close to being as good a scorer too quiet as it’s kept.

Has Deron Williams been knocked out of the best pg argument? I think Rose and Paul are Top 2 for sure, I’m not even sure if Williams is 3 now.

I’ll still take Deron Williams 1st. But really, its splitting hairs. Chris Paul is great.

Chris Paul, when healthy, can change the game in a different way than Derrick Rose.  Chris Paul can get himself 15 assists on a game while Derrick Rose can get 35pts in a game.  They play the PG position very differently.  Derrick Rose is more of a DWade type combo guard while Chris Paul is a pure point guard.

To be honest CP3 wasn’t exactly playing when all that talk was going on. People seem to forget just how good CP3 was. Now that Williams in on the Nets how much do you hear about him? Plus Paul has always been a playoff performer. Look at what he did to the Mavs and Spurs in 07 Averaging 24/5/11 while shooting 50%.

Derrick Rose is not a combo guard at all. I’ve watched him since his senior year in HS, he is a true pg. Is an amazing playmaker? No, but that doesn’t mean he is bad at it.
