He should have a tough time slipping past the Grizzlies at 20. Alot of teams are in need of shooting gaurds and this in tis draft thier arent many.

I am also very high on Thompson and I think he will be a solid NBA player, but I wouldn’t pick him in the lottery if im a NBA gm. Im not saying he cant be picked in the lotto thats cetaintly a possiblity, I just would rather have some of the other players who will available in the late lottery to mid first round like Morris Faried and Tristan Thompson. Its close, but I think I would rather have Jordan Hamilton too .  

 I have him at 23 in my mock, and I ain’t moving him up until I see some workouts and he proves he belongs in the lottery. The lottery is not just for shooters. He’s gotta do something more than just shoot. Play defense, grab boards, have a good passing game. I haven’t seen him do any of those things, except shoot very well. Until he does something more he ain’t moving any higher then where he is at right now. Late 1st is where he be picked unless he has steller workouts. Jordan Hamilton is a much better lottery pick than Klay Thompson.

No shot he goes lottery to me. He’s good, but even in a weak draft, he doesn’t possess lottery pick potential.

Niether did Brandon Rush or Thabo but when their is weakness at a position it is easy for teams to reach out of necessity.

Brandon Rush won a national championship and was considered back from his ACL tear and had Pierce potential. Thabo was in a weak draft AND had huge defensive upside….not to mention, he was only 18. He was Nic Batum before Batum, except Batum developed some more offensive moves.

 I think he’s a good value pick, I don’t think he’ll go lottery, but he’ll go in the 20’s most likely and I do think he’s a guy who can contribute and maybe be a solid player in the future. 

I don’t think shooting guard is a position that you reach for from a team needs standpoint.  Few teams have elite scoring 2 guards anymore in favor of the versitile wing 3 or scoring point guard.  A lot of successful teams have a 2 guard who just plays D and hits open jumpers.  Not to say that a great shooting guard isn’t beneficial, but teams have trended away from that and reaching for Klay Thompson at 14 or 15 isn’t going to fit the need of a superstar 2, so you may as well just go with the best player available, even if your need is at 2.

I think he’d be interesting in New Orleans next to Chris Paul

Yeah, but I don’t think they have a 1st round pick. 

I could see Minni getting him at 20, I could be wrong because it’s all chance (well except NY in 85′ lol), but I think they’ll get a top 5 pick, too high to reach for a guy like Burks so addressing their SG need at 20 with Thompson could be a good option.

Boston would be a very interesting team for Thompson if he slid a bit. Could sit one year behind Ray and learn

 lol, yeah, I really like him as a good value pick.  I don’t think Delonte West will be with them much longer and although they picked Bradley last year I feel Thompson is more NBA ready, but I think Klay would not get much action as a rookie on the C’s

 Second round. Could potentially go late first, but lottery is pushing it with his athleticism, even in this draft. Just reminds me too much of a mix between Morris Almond and Kareem Rush. In the second round, I’ll take him, but he’s not in my top 30. Prolly not even top 45 honestly.

It is hard to trust a guy who has consistently struggled against conference opponents.

I don’t see Boston taking a SG in the first round, they already have Bradley and Wafer who are serviceable at least, it’s more important for them to take a big man to replace their ageing stock of Cs/PFs. I have them taking Tyler.
