JoeWolf1With this draft being so weak, I have a feeling teams will take defensive role players much higher then they would in a deeper draft. Biyombo has recently shot up a lot of people’s lists, but I feel he won’t be the only defensive guy to rise in the next couple months. Chris Singleton seems, to me, like a guy who could be taken in the lottery when all is said and done. He was dominant defensively in the NCAA tournament, can defend 2 or maybe 3 positions and his physicality I feel will really rise his stock. Ken Faried, and Leonard are two other guys who I think will end up going high too.
This draft has a lot of volume shooters that project as bench scoring punches at the next level, and I think a lot of teams will end up grabbing defenders instead of these guys. A lot of teams are going to roll the dice on international players and I feel that many teams will go defense as well. I think the players I mentioned earlier will all be off the board before 17.
This is just a thought, but what do you guys think about it and what do you think about
Singleton, Faried, Leonard, and Biyombo as players and their stock in general?

providencefriars1ParticipantI think all those guys will find a niche in the league. Faried is the most sure thing because rebounding translates between leagues usually. Singleton’s defense will get him a career as well, I think he has more offensive potential than Faried. Leonard has the most upside of all four in terms of developing an offensive game and he will be a lottery pick, Im thinking #11 to GS. Biyombo has the biggest chance to be a bust but his game changing defensive potential is undeniable. Another defensive guy you could throw in there is Deandre Liggins who could sneak into the first round.
I think in the order they will be drafted it will be:
Leonard-11ish
Biyombo-14-18
Faried 14-21
Singleton 18-23
Liggins 27-35

B FreeParticipantI also have all those guys going before 18 in my mock. I also have Jajaun Johnson going 20, which is another reach but with the way the board looks by then they might add some length and Defense to pair with Love.

mamadouParticipantI think tristan thompson deserves some credit in here, saw his last 2 games, killed benson and D-will, some solid post D, 11 blocks was pretty solid too…

JoeWolf1Yeah, Thompson projects as a good defensive big at the next level. He’s got a great frame, long arms and pretty good strength for a 225lb 19 year old. I think he could definately play around 240-245 and maintain his athleticism. I think he’s a couple years away from playing decent minutes, he needs work on his Bball IQ and decision making on offense, but his potential is there for sure.

B FreeParticipantYea Thompson has great potential I would have him in the lottery if he comes out but according to the NBA he still hasn’t put his name in.
