Lotto StudParticipantOkay so it is said that Ford would not take a buyout from the Pacers, but this will only take place for so long, because he is not getting any burn. The big indicator that his services were no longer needed was when they acquired Darren Collison, which has become their starter from Day 1 & A.J. Price who has been giving serviceable minutes as the backup. With his contract up at the end of the season he could command up to $14-mil, which is 6 more of what he is getting now. I have not wrote Ford off as a top notch PG in this league & I doubt that other teams have too. He is a very very unselfish guard who can excel with another Superstar on a contending team. IMO Ford is everything you want & more in a PG that has been in the league for 6 years.
What are your thoughts on Ford & what potential callers do you see coming his way this offseason?

Who’s paying T.J. Ford 14 mil a season man….

Lotto StudParticipantI said up to!!!!! Don’t act like players don’t get deals that you don’t think they can get. Kyle Lowry$$$$$$$

Lotto StudParticipantHell Mike Conley$$$$$$$$$$
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/16/2011 - 6:28am #521813

BKKnicksfanParticipantYea, but both those players were young dudes. You forget Ford had a major injury which zapped some of his ability. Can he be a backup for someone? Yes, but I don’t think he can be a starter because he would be killed on defense.
Also, Lowry is one of the better defensive point guard in the league, Conley is a solid point guard, who’s overpaid.

Lotto StudParticipantYou make it seem like up to $14-mil is a lot for Ford. He is only 28 & will be in the league for many many more years to come. $14-mil is not unrealistic for him. He may be a liability on D but his offensive game is what brings the best out of him. Pass 1st!!!! So many contending teams need that especially when they have mediocre PG play especially Miami at 1 point & time before they acquired Bibby.

BKKnicksfanParticipantIf your Miami, you can draft a point guard and then sign a PG for less. Miami doesn’t need a pass first point guard because you have two supreme ball handlers in James/Wade
Also, I think Andre Miller Delonte West, Goran Dragic, Earl Watson (FA) and Jonny Flynn, Jose Calderon and Devin Harris (Trade) are better options

Lotto StudParticipantI was bringing Miami up in past tense because at the time they needed one. Ford will fit well with another team trust & believe it.

BKKnicksfanParticipantI agree, but not as a starter.

Snubs15ParticipantI honestly dont think he is as much of a pass first pg as he used to be. When he left toronto he was more of a selfish player. It might’ve been because he didnt have much to pass to, but it was clear that jose was the better option to stick with in Toronto. I dont think Ford is as good in the league anymore especially after re-injuring his back and neck.
Also, Miami would better need a pg who can shoot the 3 since that will spread the floor for lebron/wade/bosh. Calderon would be a pretty good pickup since he runs an offense really well, hits open shots and miami is already a great defensive team so he wont hurt them too much on that side of the ball.

HotSnotParticipant14 mil per for Ford? So Ford is worth "up to" Lebron/Wade/Bosh Salary? Indy tried to trade Ford for ANYTHING for 2 years, no takers. Ford would have taken a buyout this past deadline if there was ANY team in the league willing to make up the difference. No takers again. "Up to" 14 mil? Why not up to 50 mil? If we’re going to throw out stupid numbers… shoot higher.

the I in winParticipantAs much as I liked him out of college I have to say he really hasn’t ever done much. Whether it be from injury or team situation I don’t think he has ever been the best point guard on any of his nba teams. He showed promise his rookie year but he probably wasn’t better than Brevin Knight and by the time he came back from injury I think Mo Williams had surpassed him.

TeamShowtimeLakersParticipantmemphis-tyga23 are you saying that tj ford can get 14mil per season? or a contract for like 3-4 years for 14mil total?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/16/2011 - 10:23am #521932
Lotto StudParticipantI’m saying multiple year contract

ProudGrandpaParticipant0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/16/2011 - 10:29am #521934
Lotto StudParticipantIt is no unrealistic for Ford to see that money for 3-4years
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/16/2011 - 10:55am #521944
DemarDerozanParticipantThere is no chance in hell, any team in the NBA is going to pay TJ FORD… Of all people.. 14 million a season, especially since the new CBA and what not.

jjonzParticipantTJ Ford came into the L as a 2nd tier PG & after being in the L as long as he has this is what you get: a decent pg. With the pletora of PGs in the L he is probally in between 15-20th best. & The next wave of PGs are coming in the next 2 drafts. With @least 7-10 being drafted in next 2 years. I’ve taken a beaten for bad threads, but this idea is ludicruis (In my Mike Tyson voice). & 14Mill is probally a 3rd of your 50-60 mill cap on a Not going anywhere not taking you over the top PG. He will more than likely sign a MLE for a Contender and be happy with that.

esperanzafleet69Participantford will never be even worth a starting spot on any team.. 2-3rd string at best…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/16/2011 - 1:16pm #522000

Snubs15ParticipantNo way is Ford top 15-20 pg in the NBA. Hes decent but id say hes more 25-30 range. I mean he lost his starting spot to Calderon in toronto and Jarret Jack in Indiana and i do not conisder them top 15-20 at all either.

TeamShowtimeLakersParticipantok i see what memphis-tyga23 is saying….we all thought he was sayin tj ford would get 14 mil per season and aint no way in hell somebody gon pay ford that…but memphis-tyga23 was sayin that ford could get a multi-year contract up to 14million dollars total….thats realistic.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/16/2011 - 2:18pm #522032
Lotto StudParticipantBingo!
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/16/2011 - 4:51pm #522102

CodySLCParticipantYour crazy. Will he stay in the league, yes. Will he be a starter, maybe. Doubt he even gets 5 mil a yr tho
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/16/2011 - 5:08pm #522103

ProudGrandpaParticipantHow has this thread lasted 12 hours? This guy is probably the most talked about player who doesn’t even play
