Out of these potential lottery picks, who would be the best fit alongside Tyreke Evans?  The Kings are struggling with their backcourt, and Tyreke is a player who needs the ball in his hands to be effective.  Here is the list:

    • Kyrie Irving
    • Brandon Knight
    • Kemba Walker
    • Alec Burks
    • Jimmer Fredette

Jimmer is too low for the King’s pick, and Kyrie wont be had unless the Kings fare well in the lottery.  However, Knight, Walker, and Burks are all very viable for their picking.  Thoughts?

I can see them picking one of those guys but Tyreke and the Kings need a veteran point right now. Think like a Luke Ridnour type guy.

Unless they get a chance at Irving they need to draft someone who is not a guard and resign Thornton, who is playing out of his mind since the trade.

Brandon Knight hands down, he does not have to have the ball in his hands at all times. He is the better choice between all those PG’s listed, because he is versatile enough to swap it out with Reke in whomever wants to bring the ball up the court or decide whether to play off the ball. Brandon Knight is a very valuable asset & would be a key piece to pair with Reke. For starters Knight can shoot very well & is not streaky, not saying that all the others can’t shoot. If need be he can distribute well which will be a plus once Reke learns to add a J over the summer.

Irving or Walker in my opinion. Both of those two are complete guards who can do a little bit of everything. Walker is a better scorer than Irving, but Irving a better passer than Walker. Tyreke needs the ball to be effective, so he needs to have a good passer beside him which would be Irving, but if Kings do not get a top 3 pick then Walker will have to do.

I have them picking Donatas Motiejunas because, Thornton and Tyreke is a solid back court.  Dalembert will probably leave.  Cousins should be more of a Center and work down low.  Motie will work on the perimeter while Cousins work inside also Evans and Motie can do a lot of pick and pop.

They could also go for Jones if he is available. Brandon Knight and Evans seem to similiar but i could see it work if Knight focuses on just being a shooter but why draft him when you can sign Thornton on the cheap who they already know can score.

Thornton allows Evans to play point but not have to guard point guards even though Thornton sucks at D, when actually put in effort, he should be quick enough to guard points to some degree.

brandon knight is the best fit  pg for tyreke in this draft. because brandon knight isnt ball dominating guard, tyreke own the ball most of the time. tyreke cant shot outside, brandon knight can shot outside. i also like knight/cousins partnership better than evans/cousins partnership. with knight on the team, i dont care if the kings trade evans in the future.

     Irving – Knight – Barnes – Williams – Kanter.

Irving … is a special talent that would be good on any team. He is a ball dominant PG which isn’t great for Tyreke but i think they could learn to work together. Bringing Thornton off the bench as their scoring threat

Knight … probably the best fit next to Tyreke since he is tall and can shoot. They can share the responsibility with the basketball or bring him off the bench as their Jason Terry type of player.

Barnes … i think he would be natural fit at the 3 spot for the Kings… a starting five of Tyreke-Thornton-Barnes-Thompson-Cousins (assuming that Sammy D leaves).

Williams … could fill the gap at the 3/4 spot, can have a big lineup with him at the 3 or put him next to Cousins and have a great rebounding/scoring frontcourt

Kanter … could spread the floor for Cousins and Tyreke, play more of a finesse game but would be a great compliment to Cousins

I keep seeing Walker to the kings but i don’t think him and Tyreke can play with eachother, both are driving ball dominant guards, Walker isn’t an exceptional shooter off the ball and needs to create his own shot just like Tyreke.

Of the group selected, I’d have to think Jimmer would be the best. Hamilton could potentially play nicely off of Reke.

Beno actually makes a ton of sense next to Evans.

That’s what I’m saying. Udrih’s skill-set seems to complement Evans’ skill-set. Why aren’t they working well together?

As has been said, Brandon Knight is the better fit, he has a more level head than either Tyreke or Cousins and could be a positive locker room influence. Plus, I’ve just got this feeling about Knight that wherever he goes they’ll start winning pretty quickly.

Knight is also a good defender, he bothered Kendall Marshall immensely in the Elite Eight with his length and effort. That said, it depends what happens with Thornton first, because he seems to fit well with Reke already and as an older player can fill a leadership role.

Wish Kings had a new coach though…

Should be first on their list, but they absolutely love Westpaul I guess. Furthermore, Thornton is an excellent piece, but I’d rather have him come off the bench if Knight were to take a trip to the Kings. Only for one reason. He is tooooooo small. I watched him during that game against the Lakers. He made the effort to defend. But Kobe was getting wide open looks regardless. He suits better as a sixth man.
