KingJames00ParticipantIs this guy the real deal or a flash in the pan? Who will be starting at 2 guard next year for the Wiz, Nick Young or Crawford? Can he possibly keep this pace up through a 82 game season?

WizardofOzParticipantHe’s the real deal. He has an inconsistent J, which lowers his percentage and makes him seem like the ultimate chucker, but his driving ability is great, and he has that crazy MJ/Dr. J hangtime where he makes a lot of remarkable finsihes around the hoop.
And this may surprise some, but he is a very willing passer and as great court vision.
And if we didn’t have so many guys injured right now, he would be out 6th man and his percentages would be up. Don’t forget that he’s been playing over 40 mpg usually and he has to take on the scoring since we have most of our scorers out.
I still think that Nick should be the starter (that is if we resign him), because he’s a better fit with John Wall because he’s a better shooter and is effective off the ball, but I think that Crawford should be the 3rd guard that comes off the bench for a scoring punch and can play PG and SG.

KingJames00ParticipantI agree with alot of what you said… I like his game as well but am intrested to see how it plays out goin into next year. I am in a long term fantasy keeper leauge and have the 1st and 4th pick in this years draft. I am prob goin to take Irving with the 1st but am really thinking i should take this guy with the 4th pick(nobody owns him) over a guy like P.Jones or E.Kanter. What do you think the chances are the Wiz resign Nick Young??

WizardofOzParticipant^^ I think the chances of Young being resigned are pretty high. Everything I’ve heard from management makes it seem like they think Young is a part of their future. I just hope that another team doesn’t try to overpay him.

sheltwon3ParticipantI actually like Crawford starting. They started winning games around the time he moved to the starting position. He is a pretty good passer and can play defense above average. He and Wall will mesh at some point. I think if Nick Young was smart he would go to another team though.

iminipandaParticipantI think the wizards can only have one. Crawford and Young play close enough that only one of them will be effective as a starter. Managment needs to pick one and trade the other. I think either would be coveted by other teams.

TeamShowtimeLakersParticipanthe is good and i see him starting next year because young leaves….he prolly wont be posting big numbers all next season, but he can definitely grow into it.

omphalosParticipantCrawford has been making some pretty impressive assists, could take over PG duties if Wall wants to go on a scoring tear a bit. Crawford plays with a lot of confidence, which I like to see in a rookie. I’d rather go young with Crawford than old with Young, given how far away the Wizards are from competing. I’m not sure why, but I’m suspicious of players who have been in the league and have breakout seasons on losing teams. I’d rather give Crawford a chance, and agree that one or the other needs to go for chemistry reasons as you don’t want a situation like Toronto had at PG with Jack and Calderon continually battling for the starting spot because the depth was unclear. Better to have a clear distinction between starters and bench players with a young team.

B-ball fanParticipantHe is overrated due to his scoring. He is a bit of a one trick pony. He doesn’t pass, defend, or rebound well. Players who can do what he can do are relatively common. The Wizards should let another team overpay for empty calories. Crawford at least can play some point, and is a superior ball handler and passer. He also is younger and could develop a more complete game.

mj23mj23besteverParticipanthes fine as a starter alongside wall but imo hes better suited for that 6th man fire power off the benhc i like the mention on crawford playing sum pg allowing wall to open up and score at the 2 off the ball

ghettosermonParticipantIn the long term Crawford shouldn’t be starting with Rose. Crawford having to guard 2 guards consistently is not ideal. It’s just like the Wall/Arenas situation. Because of Crawford’s quick scoring ability and ability to play some point he is the ideal 6th man.

sheltwon3ParticipantCrawford is the same Height as Wade or slightly taller with long arm. He is also very athletic. He also plays next to a 6’3" 6’4" point guard who is also athletic and has long arms. I see no issues with that background defensively that can’t be said about most NBA backcourts. People slept on Crawford and I think next year he may have a break out year because right now he is just putting up numbers and trying to figure out his role. he is inconstent but next year when he can score at least 16 pt 3 or 4 assists 1.5 stl 4 rebounds in 34 to 36 minutes while shooting 36 to 39 percent in 3’s and 42 to 46 in field goal, everything will make sense.
