OhCanada-ParticipantIm hearing alot of people talk about how great this draft is going to be.
I think Barnes and Sullinger have made bold decisions to stay and refine their games whch should end up benefitting them. Barnes will probally raize the expectations criics put on him earlier in the season, and Sullinger should take his game to a new level as well. With great Freshman like Quincy Miller drawing comparisons to Durant, Anthony Davis to Garnett, and austin Rivers to Curry how legit are thes ecomparisons, can these players realize the potential? Then there are also Tristan Thompson, Cory Joseph, John henson, the Lamb brothers, Waayns, and both Leslie’s to consider.
Will this draft be as good as the Rose draft, let alone the Lebron draft?

lalailaParticipantyeah it was going to be very good anyway, but now with Sully and Barnes here..top 5-7 looks like any top3 from recent drafts…
and once again, no mention for Gilchrist..?

SwatLakeCityParticipantI actually think the 2012 draft will be better than the 2008 draft. I think it will be very comparable to the 2003 draft. You got a future Garnett in Anthony Davis, a future Ray Allen in Rivers, a future Iggy in Gilchrist, a future Deron Williams/Chris Paul in Kabongo, a future John Stockton in Marshall, a future Eric Gordon in Brad Beal, probably the fasted PG in a long time in Marquis Teague, A young version of Ron Artest in Nash. And then you have both Barnes and Sullinger returning to fine tune their games!!!! That’s pretty stacked. Incredible draft and I can’t wait until we start talking about these players more indepth and then they get drafted in late June of 2012. Should be an awesome draft.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantI’ll tell u what if Ghilchrist and Beal are out of the Top 10 then that’s a dope a$$ draft….especially if Lebryan Nash falls to 20 (which will NOT happen)…..and dude what the F? Teague isn’t even in that mock anymore??? wrong, he will be lottery no doubt

Anton123ParticipantThe draft will be sick, I think this is also great for the NCAA because many players will probably decide to stay one more year to get picked higher in a less stacked draft.

mikeyvthedonParticipantBut, I think their are still question marks as far as how great it will be at the top. The 2003 draft had LeBron, Melo and Wade, and I have no idea if 2012 will have a player of their magnitude. They could, it just seems very unclear at present time. Anthony Davis has major upside, Harrison Barnes could definitely end up an All-Star, but beyond them it is unknown as to who will be a truly great player in the league. Even those two raise a lot of questions, and might not necessarily be franchise type guys.
Lets also take into account that the 2007 HS class was INSANELY deep. Even if you take the two best players from the 2010 Class (At least in ranking at the time, in Sullinger and Barnes), does that equal the depth of 2007? It is very difficult to say. One thing I will say is that the 2012 class is looking like the deepest draft class we have had since 2008, that is for sure. If you have a top 10 pick in 2012, you will have a lot of really good players to choose from. Remember, 2008 was so deep that Brook Lopez slipped out all the way to 10. Not to mention the players chosen before him have all looked pretty good (outside of Joe Alexander, but you get the point). So, it may not have the punch at the top of the draft in 2003, and I do not know if the top of the draft will be as strong in 2008, but their will be a great deal of depth.
Also, Anton, I saw what you said, but I am not so sure about that. The 2012 HS class, is full of some possible huge lottery picks at the big man positions. That is the most exciting HS class in quite a while in my opinion with its mixture of wing players and big guys. The 2013 draft might be even more stacked than 2012.

Anton123ParticipantYeah, I agree, but the 2012 high school class doesn’t have as much SFs, so some SFs may be tempted to stay to get picked higher next year, it will probably have a completely opposite effect on big men so I agree, you can’t really say for sure.

The lake show2This draft has the potential to be pretty good. And thats just including the freshmen and the soph’s. Don’t forget that some Jr and Sr are gonna raise there game to another level like other before them have done and then there will be freshmen who Soph’s who raise there game even though they had pretty good freshmen year but flew under the radar.
People always say some position player may be tempted to stay because its deep at there position but history has shown us that most wont no atter how deep the draft is at there position so don’t hold you’re breath on that one. Players view it as they are the bet player at there position they don’t view it as "its so deep and these guys are better than me"

r377ParticipantIt will be good because of barnes and sullinger, not all these overhyped highschoolers that you all assume will be one and done superstars-then dominating the nba the season after………
Come on now, half the guys on here had Perry Jones and Harrison Barnes locked in for the 2012 nba all-star game while they were still in high school…

ilike.panochasParticipantI also see 2 potential blue chip PG in this draft with Teague and Kabongo. The only weakness in this draft is at Center, but overall there is a ton of talent at every position.

Lotto StudParticipantWhich 2012 1&Done prospects stay for their soph season since it will be stacked???????
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/06/2011 - 12:16pm #518777

ilike.panochasParticipantToo early to say, but maybe McAdoo, specially with potentially playing with Barnes, Zeller and Henson. He may not get as many opportunity his freshman season at UNC as other top freshman, and could force him to stay for sophomore year.

ilike.panochasParticipantI wanted to add, watch out for Nick Johnson 6’3 190lbs combo guard headed to Arizona. He wasn’t invited in Mcdonalds all American game, but he will be the best freshman in PAC-10 and he reminds me of Jerryd Bayless, with lockdown defensive ability. Don’t be surprise if he has a great freshman year and be a lotto pick.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/06/2011 - 12:28pm #518788

OhCanada-ParticipantI think Nick will be a longterm guy but yes I agree he should be a very good pro, and in the Pac-10 e should be an immediate impact.
The guy I sort of like that people are sleeping on is Brad Beal. I think he has the type of leadership that will help Florida contend for a National title especially if Young starts playing as expected.
