llperezalways keep your elbow in tight and in a striaght line up and down underneath the basketball. And just watch the best nba shooters and watch their every little detail in their mechanics and try and copy it when shooting. When i was 10 years old, i was doing my dambest to copy mark price and dennis scott.

ChrispyParticipantFingertips, fingers spread. Balls of your feet, bend knees. Straight up, straight down. Snap wrist, gooseneck. Repeat again and again 500 times a day. Honestly, in today’s youtube world the best thing to do is look up instructionals by pros and trainers and simply work. Shooting is about repetition and confidence, and it is hard to have confidence if you haven’t put in the reps. Well, what are you doing on the computer!?! Get going….

Scottoant93ParticipantJust keep shooting, and you will eventually find your form, thats what did and im good shooter when in rythem. Watch nba players but don’t try to do exactly what they do because everyone is different. Like llperez said its all about confidence and repetition, your form will change many times, each time getting nearer to your perfect form. Keep shooting and don’t worry about missing, You got to believe every shot you shoot will swish through the net. Good luck!

Charlie SheenParticipantfind a form that you’re comfortable with no matter how ugly or unorthodox. Always shoot the same shot no matter fading leaning or contested. Flick your wrist to get that shot some rotation, last 2 fingers should be middle and index pointed down.
If people make fun of it just do like my idol Charlie Sheen and keep doin ya thing

mikeyvthedonParticipantElbow in, fingers spread, wrist far back, cushion between the ball and your palm. Arm at about as close to a 45 degree angle as possible. Square up to the basket, feet about shoulder with apart and pointing at the target. You can practice shooting off balance, but ultimately you do not want to do so. Finally, your legs are the power base of your shot. Bend your knees and get your power from them.
You can watch great shooters, but the most important thing is too try and have your shot gain as much consistency as possible. Repetition is a must, and the more you shoot, the better your muscle memory becomes. Great shooters are not born, they are made through hard work and practice. If something in your shot does not work, go back and analyze the basics. Sometimes, you might be missing a step, I try to play everything in my head when I am practicing shooting.

ProudGrandpaParticipantOne of you gentlemen mentioned Pistol Pete Maravich. He was a phenomenal player.
His hair was like that of a hooligan, though. Kids these days
