Brad Stevens is the man!!! During the first half, his team almost looked to be outmatched. VCU applied intense full court and half court D that really frustrated their O, and VCU continued their hot streak with their 3’s. But somehow, Brad Stevens, again readjusted his game plan, allowing Hahn and Vanzant get involved in the O, which allowed better looks for Howard (the coach) and Mack. Moreover, Khyle and Howard again imposed their rebounding presence, totally outrebounding Skeen and company. And again, Brad Stevens is the man!!!

whatever school he ends up picking will have their coach until Brad decides to retire. It’s not going to happen but Mizzou should offer him 4-5mil a year

Let’s slow down. This is FANTASTIC for Butler and Brad Stevens. I want to see him at a big school before dubbing him the next great head coach

Butler is probably going to become a big time school because of Stevens.

I think back to back finals appearances is more impressive for a mid-major than for a big time program.  Butler doesn’t have great athletes, size and strength, or ball handling, but they execute in their half court offense phenomenally and play great fundamental defense.  Stevens has done an excellent coaching job.

butler can be the first team to lose back to back ncaa championship games since michigan did it ’92 and ’93.

I think he has two choices. Stay at Butler and be an all time great or go elsewhere and be an all time great. Either way he goes he has already written a legacy of his own

Not really. I don’t see it. They don’t pull the recruits nor reside in a conference to be considered a "Big Time" school. Also, on that premise, if the Butler job opens up, I don’t think there getting a star head coach to replace Stevens, probably a assistant coach, or a a lower level coach.

People forget: Cody Zeller picked Indiana OVER Butler. It just shows that even with a title appearance, still got WAYS to go.

Their exposure is at its highest. Coach Stevens is even hotter right now then last year, I can see more 4 star recruits playing for him. He doesn’t need to get the top guys, just more highly regarded talent then has was getting before (which is almost assured now). His conference may not be good, but neither was Conference USA when Memphis was considered elite (I get that comparison isn’t spot on). I don’t think Stevens leaves anytime soon and he will attract more talent.

I agree. They are blowing up quick. Maybe they can snatch another 4 star recruit or two here or there, but Indiana is getting the 5’s and that’s my concern. As much as we want to say "He doesn’t need talent, he can out coach them" can we least agree talent wins? I mean, Matt Howard was a 4 star guy, Hayward was a 3 who grew and had 4 potential ( I believe Indiana wanted him late), Mack was a 3 and Nored was a 3. I think they get the right 3 stars guys, but what if they missed on them? I think they will still need to out hustle people

I understand the Memphis thing, but man some guys in Tennessee grow up DREAMING of playing for Memphis lol.

I disagree, I think Stevens will leave for UConn ( if it opens up, it’s the only real big job I can see opening up soon other then Indiana) or Indiana.

I agree with all the points you made. I think he will land more 4 stars and higher 3 star guys and will continue to be a tremendous mid major and a team ranked in the top 15-20 year in and year out. If he leaves I would be surprised, but I’ve seen stranger things happen.

To be honest, I hope he stays at Butler another year or two. I want him to pull in a couple more recruits.

I hate to say it, but if he leaves, I think he has a assisstant head coach he wants to stay there and take that job. Todd Lickliter did it for him, I’m sure he has a guy in place. I think Butler is the new Xavier with a mix of UNLV ( getting to title games) so I don’t see them dying, even if Stevens leaves

Personally I don’t see Butler missing on guys b/c they have a philosophy on winning where it takes a certain type of player to go to Butler and be successful. They aren’t going after 5’s b/c those guys intend to go pro after a year. Butler as long as Stevens is there, which will be a while wil be a team always contending. They will continue to dominate the conference schedule, and then do well in out of conference (they get home and homes with Ohio State due to Butler ties). Roosevelt Jones who is an incoming recruit that is nice, I am not worried about Butler they are here to stay. They continue to hit their stride late in season, and they are defensive minded. As long as you are defensive minded you will continue to be great, it’s that simple.

Lickliter didn’t do it for him. Collier (The AD) wanted to hire Stevens when Lickliter left for Iowa.
