knicks4lyfe88ParticipantNot to beat a dead horse but once again this tournament has been a perfect example of whats wrong with college football…At the beginning of the year in NCAAB every team has a chance at a special season not just the one from major conferences….It would be great to one day see a tournament system in college football and see some unknown prospect help his nfl stock by leading his "mid major" team to a final four or championship.

bennydabullParticipantThis also shows what’s wrong with college basketball…. the best team won’t win the championship. Not to take away from VCU and Butler, what they’ve done so far is great and I wish the best of luck to them. I’ve just always thought March Madness was a little overrated.
I’M JUST SAYIN…….
EDIT: I’m just stating my opinion. Bring on the negatives. What’s the record for most negatives on a post?

CheesusParticipantThe best team may not always win, but the team that plays the hardest and has the biggest heart will likely win. Thats how it should be. VCU and Butler may not aggregately have the most talent, but they play extemely hard and with a lot of heart. That is why they deserve to win in the tournament.

joecheck88ParticipantThe best team may not win but its not like it would be a fluke. VCU has to 7 games to win a championship. Butler is back after losing their best player. You can say the best team may not win but Butler and VCU bith have beaten top teams in the country and would deserve it. IMO, it feels like a UNC year. They are too big, too fast, and just plain too athletic for VCU or Butler. And UCONN has the best player left. IDK, but I would put my money on UNC. Like I said too long, too fast, too big and just too much talent everywhere.

fastforward322Participant^ too late for UNC, but it doesn’t show what’s wrong with college basketball, that doesn’t make any sense. My opinion is that if you’re the best team, you should win every game in the tournament am I right? So its not any different than high school state tournaments, where the best team should win and they are put in a position to win because of seeding.

SteroidParticipantCollege football is a different animal than college basketball. I don’t think the two should be compared. There is a huge drop off in overall talent once you go past the top 25, and the top football schools keep their talent for at least three years so the playing field is even more lopsidded unlike college basketball where the best players probably stay for 2 years at the most. Football is not a sport where a mediocre team can make a run if they get hot like in basketball. Just imagine if the top basketball players in basketball had to stay for at least three years… Mid majors wouldn’t have a chance. I think football could use a +1, but it doesn’t need a tournament with teams that get blown out by 40-50 points when they schedule a top 10 team in the regular season. The game is just too physical to have that many games anyway.

bennydabullParticipantI completely understand everyone’s points…. but you’re gonna tell me teams like Kansas, Ohio State, and Duke didn’t play their hardest? Again, I’m not taking ANYTHING away from VCU and Butler. But you can’t measure heart and will. I’m an NBA guy fully, and I believe a playoff series shows who the better team is. It’s still great to see mid majors with less top recruits winning games against these powerhouses. I just don’t think it completely showcases the best teams in the nation.

apb540ParticipantYou have to just recognize good basketball, regardless of who is playing. VCU and Butler both play very smart, hit open shots, and crash the offensive boards well. Just shows how important fundamentals really are.
