nateoak10ParticipantBlake Griffin said Monta Ellis belongs in the All-Star Game and the rookie feels "guilty" for taking Ellis’ spot.

I think Blake should have made it but Monta should have been in over Love or Duncan

BKKnicksfanParticipantThat’s cool of Blake, but he didn’t take Monta’s spot IMO. Love is having one of the best rebounding seasons since Moses Malone and Duncan is probably the x-factor on the best team in the NBA.
Monta is a snub, but not that big of a snub IMO

nateoak10ParticipantThat being said though I dont think SAS has 1 big star right now, maybe in name value but not perfomrance. Manu has been very good but when you look at a team with there record you expect there best players to be having crazy seasons but there not. They win through great coaching and defense more then individuals

ChrischiParticipantMonta Ellis is the 14th best scorer on a 40 minute adjusted basis.
Monta Ellis is the 15th best scorer on a 40 pace adjusted basis
His stats look so huge because he is playing enormous minutes on one of the fastest paced teams.
Timmy is still an all-star. He is playing less minutes and still putting up solid numbers and playing terrific defense which leads to 46 wins. Adding to this, who if not him should replace Yao Ming as the best west center?

ChrischiParticipantAnd just like you said it. They win through great coaching and defense. And who is the anchor of that defense? Tim Duncan.

Ghost01ParticipantGet a grip dude…Monta Ellis isnt that great or else that team would win game. Post a Non Pro-Monta discussion for once. The dude doesnt guard anybody and never wins games. He isnt even in the discussion with Duncan or Blake Griffin. Those are franchise guys from the past and the future.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI don’t want a loser on my team.. Monta can stay home and watch all the All-Star games from home. Maybe he should watch some tape on how to win some games.

Ghost01ParticipantAnd im sick of him being an "elite" scorer. Elite scorers are Carmelo Anthony, a guy whose never been on a losing team, even when he got drafty to that crappy Nuggets team.

Hahahahah, that’s gotta be the quote of the year. Hell.. why should we all call Kobe a winner.. His team is winning and all but he’s not a winner just because he’s winning.
Damn, Universal.. I underestimated you on that one.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI never said Monta wasn’t an All-Star because he’s a loser. I never talked about his defense because his defense is actually very scrappy.

SteroidParticipantSo much hating on Ellis in this thread. If we’re going to be contradictory, like some people are in this thread, about calling Ellis a "loser", then I could name a few all-stars that shouldn’t have been all-stars in the past or in this all-star game. There can be a better argument made against Monta not being an all-star other than he’s a "loser" and he doesn’t play defense. Come on, man…
Monta is the main reason why GS is competitive, and that’s the reason why he plays so many minutes. I would be playing my best player a lot too if it gave my team the best chance to win. Fast pace offense my ass… You guys make it seem like you could just throw any guard in that offense, and they’d do what he is doing. You guys are fooling yourselves if you think that. I bet Monta could be an efficient 20 point scorer in any offense in the NBA.

OhCanada-ParticipantMonta Ellis is not an Allstar, neither is Blake Griffin, neither is Kevin Love. There I said it.
Kevin Love and Blake Griffin should be replaced by Tony Parker and Lamarcus Aldridge and aside from stat freaks everyone knows it.

NbanflguyParticipantKevin Love has won his whole life in AAU, High school, and UCLA. I am sure the same can be said about Ellis. Just cuz he was drafted by a team who has hit a low point doesnt mean he is "a loser". If you work your tail off and come to the gym ready to play everyday you are not "a loser" simply because your team is losing. Are we going to call Adam Morrison "a winner" because his team won 2 championships?

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantAs the head of a losing team. You are known as a loser. Plain and simple. Yes Kevin Love is a loser in the NBA. I’m sure ALL NBA players have had success in high school and AAU and maybe college. All of that is thrown out of the window once you enter the NBA. Nobody cares what you won outside of the NBA. Nobody ever says "Mario Chalmers is better than DRose because he beat him in college" No. Nobody cares what you did in college, it’s what you have done in the NBA.

Ghost01ParticipantWoah, NBA talent won in High School? NO WAY!?!?!?!?
Come on guys. Monta Ellis isnt a star. Hes a good scorer. He would be the 3rd option on most contenders. Stop overhyping him for scoring points that mean nothing. "Hes the only reason they are competitve" Well, they arent very competitve. And, No, they have Steph Curry, whose much efficient than MOnta, and David Lee, who they spent 80 million dollars on. Or Dorrell Wright, whose getting MIP buzz. No, its not just monta.

AllStar Game BoundI can understand the argument for Dunkin but can’t that argument be made every year for teams with the best record?..How come the Cavs didn’t have two Allstars last year even though they had the best record? Would Blair have been ont he Allstar team if he was doing what Duncan is doing? If Duncan’s name was Splitter would he still be on the Allstar team?

AllStar Game BoundI have to disagree with them not being very competitive. They are three games out of the 8th spot. I think you have them mixed up with the Clippers or Twolves
