Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI was looking at some stats and checked on the best True Shooting % in the league. Surprisingly, it was Tyson Chandler at 71.9%. I kept on digging in on stats only to find that the last time any player shot over 70 TS% was Artis Gilmore during the 81-82 season. His TS% was 70.2%.
If Tyson Chandler continues to shoot at this rate, he will have the highest TS% in a single season all-time.
Just thought that was interesting.

Bossy13ParticipantI’m still pissed at Jordan for killing the Calderon for Chandler deal they had in place last summer. I get why he didnt want to do it, but the Bobcats ended up giving him away for nothing anyway. If I was Charlotte, I would rather have jose than Matt Carrol and Diop… or whatever junk they got from Dallas.

IndianaBasketballParticipantGive J. Kidd a lot of credit. He gets Chandler the ball in spots where he just has to dunk it.
Chandler plays well when he has a great point guard in the lineup.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThe simple fact that he is very mobile and plays off of Dirk, Kidd, Terry, Marion, Butler very well. All he does is dunk, but he gets himself into prime position by moving to the right spots. The guy is the 6th option on a championship team. But he’s by far one of the more important pieces to that team.

eric palmerParticipantWhile the majority of Chandler’s points are from oops, dunks, putbacks, etc…he has actually become a decent jumpshooter from the right elbow, and the Mavs will run one or two plays a game where they pin Dirk down on the blocks, then Chandler curls up to the elbow for what is normally a wide-open jumper, because the other C’s in the league are more worried about Dirk down low.
I specifically remember them running it a few times at the OKC game I saw live when Dirk was out, and they used Marion down low instead of Dirk.
Just a fun fact I thought you guys would like to hear if you hadn’t gotten a chance to watch him play a ton this year.

Mr. 19134ParticipantDeandre Jordan is growing into the same role that Chandler plays now. But how many points did Gilmore average during that year?

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantIt’s pretty much the best way to figure out a players shooting percentage. It’s a players shooting percentage if we accounted for 3PT FGs and free throws

BigDParticipantChandler hasn’t jut been dunking this season, he has had his few post ups isolated for a 1 on 1, and his mid-range jumphot is actually looking very good.

IndianaBasketballParticipant^^^ Lol ^^^ 99% of Chandler’s points come off of dunks and put backs.
He’s having a very good season… Just in enough time to get paid from Cuban.

HitsterParticipantFor a guy who has only averaged a double double throughout a season twice in his career, Tyson Chandler has become an excellent role player who really benefitted when he has a top notch PG to feed him a few points. He could well be a very much sought after FA this summer with any number of teams possibly making a run at him.
Although he has never made the All Star game he has been a consistent NBA performer for a decade nearly now and would probably be regarded as one of the best picks in the 2001 draft in hindsight.
Given the contracts that Dallas often offer, I could see Mark Cuban agreeing to a very lucrative extension for Tyso maybe over $60 million over 5 years.

BigDParticipantIndianaBasketball, go watch a full Dallas game and not the highlights
He gets his alley-oop jams a fair bit, but if you watched Dallas play he actually gets a post up 1 on 1 and a mid range shot a few times a game

Lotto StudParticipantI always thought he or Eddy Curry should have been #1 over Kwame Brown in the draft, but it did not help Chandler’s cause that he did not participate in All-Star games with Curry & Brown.
