Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantDid you know?…
If Blake Griffin continues to put up his current stats for the rest of the season, he will be the youngest player ever to average 22+ PPG, 12+ RPG, 3+APG.
If John Wall continues to put up his current stats for the rest of the season, he will be the youngest player ever to average 14+ PPG, 9+ APG.
If DeMarcus Cousins continues to put up his current stats for the rest of the season, he will be the youngest player ever to average 4+ FPG, 2+ TPG. (Not something I’d brag about. Yes that’s fouls and turnovers.)

BasketBalAllanParticipantWhy is it that all anyone ever talks about is Cousins fouls and turnovers? He is a slightly out of shape rookie center who has the ball run through him on almost every possession. You never hear about how Jennings, Tyreke, Collison, Curry, Wall, Rose, Westbrook, Durant and Griffin all averaged or average turnover numbers in their rookie years that were worse or around what Cousins is averaging. You also never hear about how Lebron, Howard, Amare, Melo, Kobe, Wade, and Durant all average more turnovers this year than Cousins who averages the same amount as Boozer, Griffin, Granger, Josh Smith and around 0.2 more than David Lee, Beasley, Bragnani, Brook Lopez, and Rudy Gay. To me, complaining about Cousins turnovers is just an excuse to pick on the guy.
As far as his fouls go, he does commit quite a few and really needs to bring that average down, but you have to realize that he plays at the hardest position to defend as a rookie. As well as the fact that some of the best post players in the NBA average around half a foul less per game than him; players such as Amare, Howard, Bogut, Chandler, Boozer, Okafor, and Noah.
I fully realize that Cousins has his issues with certain parts of his game and that he is not at the same level yet as players listed above, but give the rookie a break. I have yet to hear anyone say that if he continues at his current pace, for over the last month, he will finish the last half of the season averaging 17-8-2.5-1-1 in every month but November and December.

I’m with you, I’m not saying by any means that he’s a bad player or anything. I think this guy could eventually be the franchise players for the Kings as he overtakes Tyreke.

KayjayParticipantThe Kings are probably a pure or complimentry point guard away and an consistent small forward from no longer being one of the jokes of the league. I love watching them play. That said, it is interesting to know three rookies will hit the history books. I notice though everyone contiously talks about one drafter after a next is a weak one, and then it turns out that there are gem’s all over the place. Interesting.
