GlenTaylorSucksParticipantIf Donnie Walsh can pull off this deal for ‘Melo, it will be one of the most lopsided trade in history. Even moreso than the infamous Gasol deal a few years ago.
Denver gets only Chandler (a good player, but not *that* good) and Brewer (A good 7th man), and a first-rounder in what’s supposed to be a relatively weak draft. They could have gotten: Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, 2 first rounders, among other throw-in players. Denver’s front office gets royally screwed here, and they should be fired if this deal goes down.
Minnesota gets: a 300+ lb big guy (who I’m sure will be a boon to the Minneapolis fast-food economy) that hasn’t played a game in over a year, and Anthony Randolph, a lanky-ass 6′ 11" guy who should have stayed in college for at least 2 more years, and cant seem to find his way off anyone’s bench. It would create a logjam at the forward position that would only hurt the team (Beasley and Love would be mad at less playing time). Sure, Curry’s expiring contract deal may be good, but they basically get nothing out of this.
If NY pulls off this deal, Kahn and Denver’s GM should be axed on the spot, while Donnie Walsh should be near the top of the Exec of the Year (just behind Pat Riley) candidates. I really hope they just let ‘Melo walk, or that they find a better deal so as to not gift-wrap NYK with one of the best players in the NBA.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantHistory has shown that you never get a fair return ,when you trade a superstar…
But look at the Cavs & Raptors they got nothing for losing Lebron and Bosh….

K.LOVE THE ALLSTARYeah Denver shot there selfs in the foot by not taking the Nets deal. Getting a allstar talent in Harris plus 2 first round picks plus Favors. Denver got greedy and it back fired now they might have to just settle. But then again there are talks that Houston and Dallas are willing to rent Melo for a year. Mark Cuban even confirmed that Dallas is willing to do it so its not a done deal just yet for Melo to be a Knick this season

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantU can never have too many good players at sf/pf and Center…they can draft Kyrie Irving as their franchise point guard, trade Rubio for another top 5 pick and get Harrison Barnes to replace Corey Brewer,…With Max Cap space they can go hard after restricted free agents Like Marc Gasol and OJ Mayo…all they trade for Max Space and Anthony Randolph is Corey Brewer and Utah or Charlotte’s 1st round pick, sure they help New York and that sucks, but Kaun is not as stupid as we all think he is…I like the move to be honest, not Denver of course but for the Knicks and Timberwolves its very interesting, Randolph and Curry at the very least give them another prospect and max map space…let’s see if it happens…

Ghost01ParticipantReason No.1672 why Quincey’s arguments make no sense: Calling Devin Harris an All Star.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThat’s what he meant by that, and FYI, Harris would have been dynamite next to Billups, in fact if the Nets slide Harris over to the 2 they’d be better for it…If they can’t get Kyrie Irving expect them to trade for Rubio…the Nuggets have shot them selves in the foot…I wonder if they’d take a Iggy and Brand for Melo and Birdman swap…that’s better than Brewer, Chandler and late 1st rounder…

eric palmerParticipantI was on a Dallas Mavs board recently, and one of the possible trades discussed for Melo was something like Caron’s expiring, Roddy B, Dominique Jones, Stevenson’s expiring, and Cardinal’s expiring along with 1st rounders and cash for Melo and Chris Anderson (since he has 4 years @ around 4.5 mil left on his deal.
Each deal gets limited returns for the Nuggets, but do you guys think the Mavs deal would be better? About $16 mil in expirings, plus two players that have pretty high ceilings-although DoJo has yet to show much at the NBA level.
Agreed that it is nowhere near the coup that they could have gotten had they pulled the trigger on the Nets deal though.

Moon RiverParticipantAccording to Pete Vesey (NY Post) the Nets owner prefers to negotiate deals behind the scenes rather than newspapers, the internet and social media. Him telling the Nugs that he was done pursuing Melo was to get the Nets/Melo trade stuff out of the papers and to send a message to Denver that if the want to play ball, they better keep the talks between them private. I believe the Nets will re-engage once we get closer to the trade deadline in a little over two weeks.

Stevenwow you guys are missing a huge part of this whole thing… MELO WOULDNT HAVE STAYED IN NJ. so new jersey wouldve lost everything! so its not denvers managements fault that melo wont sign a long term deal w/ nj.

mj23mj23besteverParticipantgetting chandler and brewer is far better than getting nothing by just letting him walk now kahn is a complete twit anyone with a brain knows that so him trading a first round pick for randolph and currys expiring wouldnt be that suprising the cap relief from currys expiring doesnt matter cause no one wants to play for the wolves

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThey say no thanks ill take the MLE or veteran minimum to play in NY, LA or Chicago…the Timberwolves are in perfect position to overpay the guy you can’t resign…they could roll out two 6 year/ 60 million dollar deals to OJ Mayo and Marc Gasol…the Grizzlies can’t afford to match those offers… at the very last they can sign JR Smith and Nene for about half of that cost…

GoodbyeChandlerParticipantwhat people fail to realize is that melo doesn’t want to be traded for the sake of leaving denver. melo, accoring to most sources with an opinion on the matter, wants to be a knick and and if he wanted new jersey, he would be a net. melo is in the driver’s seat, not denver. and denver is thinking either get anything of value now(and i mean anything) or risk getting raped (idk if i can post the r word here) like how the cavs and raptors did. as far as the t wolves are concerneed, i think kahn loves making trades for the sake of making trades. but in the end, this deal will not go through. if these three teams are involed int he melo deal, it isnt gonna be that one.
