B FreeParticipantI know it’s going to be hard to do what Butler did last year but it does seem that every year or every other year there is a team in the sweet sixteen or even elite eight that is a big surprise or at the very least had to upset a top team to get there, I’m wondering who do you guys feel it will be. They often to have alot of the same characteristics, these Cinderellas. They are usually veteran teams with one underclassmen who is a very good player, Hayward for Butler and for that 2006 George Mason team in was Will Thomas. They have someone in the post who can have a dominate game, for Butler it was Howard and for Geroge Mason it was Jai Lewis. They also have some one who can go off from down town George Mason had Butler and Butler had Mack. Davidson in 2008 also followed most those rules with Curry being both the deep threat and the good underclassmen, while Lovedale was the post player who could dominate.
So my guess for this year is Belmont. They have a deep team and two big guys who are big enogh to defend any one.

Providencefriars15ParticipantAny team with a dominant player could be a cinderella so maybe Hofstra (Charles Jenkins), Richmond (Kevin Anderson) or Morehead State (Kenneth Faried). A deep sleeper to make it to the second round or sweet sixteen could be Colorado St. from the MWC but they lack a real dominating player. Dont sleep on the SoCon either.

B FreeParticipantI don’t think I would call them a Cinderella, BYU is ranked pretty high will probably be a decent seed.

JoeWolf1The MVC always has a team to be reckoned with, last year I called a UNI run and this year watch out for Wichita State.

Da1potParticipantAndrew Goudelock from College of Charleston is a dynamic scorer and Bobby Cremins is a great coach… College of Charleston can flat out score and I can see them upsetting someone in the first round

Dale WorthingtonParticipantMy Cinderella is Oakland who right now is projected to be a 13-seed.
Keith Benson is one of the most productive players in the country and is incredibly hard to defend with his length and his athleticism.
Reggie Hamilton, their point guard, is putting up strong numbers.
They have another guy down low who is doing some damage, Will Hudson. Huddy can keep Big Ben warm and cozy in the post.
Then they have a youngster Travis (master)Bader out on the wing who can put the ball in the tin.
They have experience, talent, and versatility.
I think they can make a surprise run to the Sweet Sixteen.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantThen there’s Xavier who Joe Lunardi has as a 10-seed.
2008: Elite 8
2009: Sweet 16
2010: Sweet 16
The only other team to go to the Sweet 16 each of the last 3 years is Michigan State.
Xavier is America’s team. F the Dallas Cowboys. Xavier will be back in the Sweet 16 yet again.
Tu Holloway put the team on his back doe.

Ghost01ParticipantThis is true about Butler. There "cinderella" status was overrated. George Mason is a much more legit example of a cinderella team.

B FreeParticipantI think because they made it to the championship game coming out of the Horizon League they still count as a cinderella.
I also love Xavier they are actually my favorite team is college basketball because they always do so much with much less then most teams that are in the sweet sixteen year in and year out have. That being said they are there almost every year so I don’t know if the cinderella label counts for them.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantI really hope Xavier doesn’t get an 8 or 9 seed.
And if they do I hope they’re in Kansas’ region.

JNixonParticipantXavier will always be a tough out, but I like Cleveland State or College of Charleston. I think both of those teams should advance past the 1st round and at worst will be a very tough 2 and out team (think Murray State from last year).
