At school this morning someone brought it to my attention that LeBron gets criticized for everything he does whether it is good or bad. Prime example, when LeBron was on the Cavs one particular time the game was on the line, LeBron passed up on a shot to get it to an open teammate who missed the shot. Barkley criticized LeBron for being the Superstar player & not taking over for the winning shot. Here is the thing with Sunday’s game vs OKC, LeBron passed the ball to an open Eddie House to knock down the shot, because he was the best overall shooter that was on the court. Everyone was raving about how LeBron made a good decision of passing the ball to House who knocked down the shot, but I would like to know also how many of those people who thought that was a good decision would have said it was a bad one on LeBron’s part if House did not knock down the shot.

Let me know what you think.

LeBron and Kobe take criticism for anything they do.  If they hit the game winning shot, it’s no biggy, that’s what their suppose to do.. But if they miss or pass up the game winning shot, everybody talks crap about them.

They are in a lose-lose situation.  I loved that LeBron passed the ball to House, a better shooter and had a better look, rather putting up the shot.  If House would have missed, I would have been okay with that because he all know Eddie House can hit big shots.  If LeBron would have shot and missed, everybody would have brought out their stats as to how House was a better shooter and House is a better shooter in the clutch and LeBron should have passed the ball..

    Like I said, it’s a lose-lose.

i think tim legler was a little concerned with lebron passing it up. he was concerned with the jumpshots at the end of the game. d wade with a jumper that missed(mike miller o rebound) and the eddie house made 3. he was concerned that miami settles for these jumpers. he said he would have rather seen lebron take it to the bucket and maybe get fouled.

in my opinion, it was a good decision to pass to house. he wasnt passing to chris bosh or joel anthony. eddie house is a proven big shot maker.

It is good decision when it turns out in your favor. If it doesn’t, people will usually say it was stupid. I remember him passing to Donyell Marshall or Damon Jones on occasion, as it was the smart basketball play. I think the bottom line is this, LeBron cares about making the best basketball play and winning more than winning the game by himself. Kobe Bryant would have most definitely have taken the shot, though to be fair Kobe would have taken the initial shot to begin with and not have been in LeBron’s position. You know someone else who used to get criticized for doing this? Michael Jordan. Yes, Mike hit his fair share of game winners, spectacular ones as well. But, remember John Paxson? Steve Kerr? Even Bill Wennington in the double nickel? Michael wanted the ball in his hands, but he was not always taking that last shot. I do not blame Kobe for being that way at all, and I would want the ball in his hands taking those shots as well. Still, he has to thank Robert Horry, Derek Fisher and Ron Artest for hitting a couple nice clutch buckets.

Do I blame LeBron for giving the ball to a couple wide open dead eye shooters? Never did. I might blame him for passing it to Anderson Verajao to create his own shot down low, because that is not the smart basketball play. Still, basketball is a team sport, and if you see an open team mate and decide to shoot regardless, if you do not make the shot and lose, does that make it alright? But people who criticize someone for "not being clutch" when they make a good basketball play are truly splitting hairs. The ultimate cure for this claim is to win, and if LeBron does win a chip, I would say these arguments will be baseless.

I like it better when LeBron is criticized for non-basketball related things, like not knowing the definition of words.

the only time i personally remember lebron getting criticized in cleavland for passing up a shot was when in the playoffs vs orlando he had a wide open uncontested 10 footer with no one one him and he passed to delonte west to shoot a 3 pointer. He was criticized and absoluely rightfully so. Other then that, im not sure what plays you are referring to.

There were a few times he did. A famous one was a play-off game against the Pistons when he passed it to Donyell Marshall for a wide open three in the corner rather than trying to get a shot for himself. His clutch ability has been a constant topic by many people, who claimed he is afraid in the clutch and that he is not willing to take the final shot. I have even heard people complain about him driving to win a game rather than shooting. However, he has had his share of clutch moments, Game 5 in 2007 against Detroit, Game 2 against Orlando in 2009. But, people are quick to point out his downfalls at the end of the day rather than his achievements, and for every time he does not win a title, it just adds fuel to the fire. Kobe and LeBron get scrutinized more than any other player because they are always expected to be at their best. Even though their two teams are both near the top of their conference, they are criticized for not being at the top. They are held to a ridiculously high standard, and while Kobe has quieted most doubters, LeBron has yet to do so, which just leads to more criticism.
