valentineThis is very interesting but not overly surprising to me(except for how much SJU is winning by) This game every so often is competitive from time to time. SJU is up 21 as i write this heading into halftime in a minute

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantIf they can get to Selection Sunday with around 13 or 14 losses (which is still a difficult task), they could have a chance to get a bid. With wins over Georgetown, West Virginia, Duke, Notre Dame, Providence, and Northwestern, they can make a strong case that they belong. To avoid 15-16 losses, they’d still need another one or two good wins as well.

LAKE SHOWThe big east could get 11 teams in and i wouldn’t have a problem with it at all.

BKKnicksfanParticipantEh, Duke struggled and St. John got up for the game. Not a big deal and I still expect Duke to win the ACC.

No they don’t stop…

LAKE SHOWAny time a team loses and a team ahead of them doesn’t the gap gets bigger. Common sense
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 10:17am #480612

BKKnicksfanParticipantNo it doesn’t because they didn’t play. Duke lost on a bad night. It happens. I still think if Duke and Ohio St played, Duke would have a great chance of winning.
I’d say it’s a lock Duke would win if Irving was playing vs Ohio St.

LAKE SHOWlol…umm yeah it does. The gap is farther. doesn’t matter what we think the fact is Ohio state is undefeated and Duke has 2 loses. That means its a 2 game gap for number one ranking in the country instead of a one game gapp. I shouldn’t have to explain that its common sense. Who said anything about them playing each other?
And Kyrie Irving isn’t playing so that doesn’t matter. i could say " if Turner came back Ohio st would be even better" or Purdue if they had Hummle fact is he isn’t so imma stick to reality and reality is Ohio St has Proven they are the best team in the Nation at this point in the season. Everyone can have a opinion about who is and isn’t but the rankings clear that right on up until the teams play each other.

BKKnicksfanParticipantYou said the gap is grown, if Ohio St loses a game next week, they don’t drop? Just because Duke lost doesn’t mean they are 2 games worst then Ohio St, it means on two nights, Duke got outplayed. Compare Duke’s sch to OSU and it’s no contest, I’d agrue Duke has better wins AND tougher games down the road.
Evan Turner is in the NBA, Kyrie Ivring still plays for Duke. When Irving played, Duke was undefeated and he was a key member in all that. If Irving wasn’t injured ( and he might come back in Feb) Duke was the best team in college ball period. If he comes back this season ( there is a chance he might), Duke should be considered the best team in college basketball regardless of who’s #1 at the time.
I had to lol when you put Evan Turner in there, it just shows twisted thinking.

LAKE SHOWTWO GAMES BEHIND!!! good lord what aren’t you getting?..if the lakers lose the gap is bigger behind The spurs duh . Same with college basketball when a team loses. And no one considers Duke the best team in college basketball except Duke fans right now. Ohio St IS the beest team in college basketball…You can argue Duke has this or that all you want but that doesn’t make it true. Right now Ohio St is the best team in college basketball

BKKnicksfanParticipantSame with college basketball when a team loses. And no one considers Duke the best team in college basketball except Duke fans right now. I never said Duke was the best team in college basketball today so your’e WRONG on that front. I said " When Irving was playing, Duke was the best team in college basketball. If he returns and plays well, Duke should be CONSIDERED to be the best team in college basketball. You need glasses man?
BTW, I think Kansas is the best team in college basketball. That’s my opinion and I’m a Duke fan. So read carefully next time before posting man.

LAKE SHOWLike i said the gap is bigger from Duke and the number one spot in college basketball. Rankings show that and that’s what they go by…Rankings
You might one take you’re own advice about reading
"And no one considers Duke the best team in college basketball except Duke fans right now"
where in that sentence did i say you are a Duke fan????? see what happens when you ASSume

I never said you called me a Duke fan. I’m admitting that I am a Duke fan. Like I said, YOU NEED GLASSES.

wenichParticipantthis isn’t the NBA exact W-L does not determine the rankings. Just because Ohio St. is undefeated does not mean that when they lose their first game they will still have a 1 game cushion in the standings. Whenever Ohio St loses, in the next poll they will not be ranked #1. Always happens, so by that account I think you are wrong Lake Show.
