Is this guy one of the worst picks ever?  I’m guessing the Grizz projected him to be a Mutumbo type player.  Someone who is a defensive gatekeeper with a developing offensive game.  He plays so little that I don’t even know how he is progressing.  Remember when Blair totally abused him in NCAA a few years back?  That should have been a red flag.

Lol..They were Praying he’ll be another Mutumbo or at least another Dalambert..But they got another Diop..

He’s not even in the rotation this year..Darrell Arthur has been playing backup center….

The Grizzlies wanted Rubio, but were afraid of wasting a high pick on a guy that might never play for them..Some in the organization wanted Tyreke Evans ..He was their 2nd choice, but they thought he’ll have trouble playing the point..

I think he still has potential as Dalembert…..but I’m becoming skeptical myself….but you gotta give 3 years before good or bad decision is officially given….

He is not the worse pick even tho he is looking even worse then Michael Olowakandi at this point.  But If the Griz didn’t draft him second, and I was all for them drafting Curry i just thought he would of been the best fit and I liked Curry a lot, Evans would of been a bad fit for the Grizzlies, and James Harden can’t run PG full time because he can’t play defense full time on them.  But neways if the Grizz didn’t draft him you got to think The Thunder take him because he is exactly wat the Thunder needed.  Imagine putting that defensive length on the court with Westbrook and Durant, and Thabo, it’s almost too much to resists.

I honestly feel like Thabeet is suffering from playing for a poorly executed basketball organization and playing for a coach who has no faith in him.  Even Turner is suffering the same fate right now.  Collins got Turner playing mistake free basketball instead of taking the training wheels off and telling him to go out their and make plays.  Nobody is allowed to create plays for the Sixers outside of Holiday, Williams, and Iggy and it is really holding the team back.  But I don’t think anybody thought Thabeet wouldn’t even see the court.  I thought it was bad draft choice because I thought the Grizz should of made Marc Gasol their future center and got an upgrade at the PG spot.  Curry, Evans, Jennings, Collisons, and Holiday are all better then Conley.  Curry and Jennings would of been great picks as would of Jrue Holiday.

Even with Thabeet not playing i still think one of the worse draft choices if from that draft only its the Knicks taking Jordan Hill over Jennings and Holiday.  The Knicks had a gaping hole at PG and their best 3 players are forwards so why draft another forward over 2 stud young PG’s/

He needs a point guard who gets him the ball where he can catch and dunk and not do much else. He should be a better rebounder than he is.

Thabeet will block shots still tho.  If he can find a way to stay on the court for around 25 minutes a game i promise you he gets over 2 blocks per game.  He still got the potential to average over 3 blocks a game and lead the league in blocked shots.  Because you think any harder remember that Darko is leading the league now and tho we all knew he had that potential who saw that coming?

I think Thabeet will be alright still.  He needs to get on a different team in a different system with a different coach who understand how to maximize what he can do.  The Griz even considered taking Jordan Hill there who was really all over the draft boards and not for nothing I actually think Jordan Hill would of been a better fit because he can come off the bench, provide energy and play both PF and C.  Thabeet can’t.  I think on a team like the Bobcats Thabeet really excels.  It time for a serious change of scenario before his trade value gets any lower but he still has a ton of interest in this league.

I’m surprised how little minutes he has earned this season.  At the end of last season he was putting up about 6 points 6 rebounds and a block and a half for the last month of the season.  I don’t know if he’s played over 10 minutes in a game at all this season.  He still has value because it is only 15 games into his second year and could possibly turn it around, but if the Grizz have no room for him in their lineup, its a waste IMO and they should consider trading him before his value goes down even more.

Yeah, when Blair and Thabeet matched-up in college, Blair literally ate him alive. Thabeet is a great shotblocker, but his offense is really bad. It’s like defensively, he’s a borderline allstar, but his offense is like a high school freshman (if that!).

I agree with Mr.19134, he needs to be moved, i think he’s better then a garbage minute/"Cigar" player, he has value, since, he’s a big, mobile, being the 2nd pick and the defense he’d bring.

The Grizz may hold on to him though, it’s a contract year for Randolph, so there’s still a gilmmer of hope for Thabeet in Memphis, but, we’ll see.

Thabeet has problems with guys like Blair who had a nice set of power moves…..he killed against just about everyone else in the best conference in the history of college basketball though…he will be ok….he is still learning the game also…..

I think his career will semi mirror fellow huskie alum Emeka Okafor….I know he didn’t have the rookie season as Emeka but he may have if he was the centerpiece of an expansion team….

He does need more playing time for sure. Thabeet has a chance to be a decent player but I think he needs to work through his mistakes and start learning the game. Just sitting on the bench won’t do him any good. I agree that he is in the same boat as Turner, he needs to used effectively where can use his skills to the fullest use.
