WolvesFutureParticipantI like that he’s been cutting down on his TOs and Fouls, he’s looked much better than Blatche this year. Still can’t believe Durant called Darko one of the Top 5 Centers in the League. He has been doing a lot better though, his confidence has went way up since he’s been making shots, he’s had some absolutely nasty no look passes in the last couple of games. What do y’all think of my Darko pic? The man is an adonis.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI’m trying to get either one of them (McGee or Darko) on my fantasy team by trading Elton Brand for either one of them. I had a feeling this would happen but I decided to wait to see if it really would, and I was right. Now I wish I would have drafted either one of them. Do you think Darko is finally living up to his potential being that he was behind Lebron and ahead of Melo?

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipant4-12 (on pace for 20 wins), 1-4 over the last five (big win over the Clippers). As posters keep reminding me, there is such remarkable progess taking place in Minnesota this year. If there was any more progress, they might not have the second most losses in the league.

doubledribblerParticipantWhy is BothTeamsPlayedHard getting negatives? Not that points matter, but he makes a valid point. Darko has always had these games where you think he figures it out, then he disappears. I remember there were times in Orlando that he looked way better than Howard, but we all know who is and was the better player. The guys confidence is too easily crushed for him to ever be a great player, let alone an all star at any point in his career. I still have a problem if a guy has played on good teams, but only puts up good numbers on bad ones. Anyone can play well when you have no expectations and you have no pressure to do well. I have never seen people so excited about a team that is winning only 25% of their games. This team might get some state holidays named for them if they reach .500.

HitsterParticipantFor Darko or JaVale to be MIP contenders they would need to keep up their current form across the rest of the season. I’d say Michael Beasley could be an MIP contender if he can carry on averaging over 20ppg perhaps.
The T-Wolves have players producing great stats and the Clippers have Griffin producing monster performances so to me it seems a bit like Seattle/Oklahoma in 2007/08 and early 2008/09 when Kevin Durant was putting up great stats but the team was still struggling. The next step for both these teams is to try and make progress like Oklahoma have done over the last two years.
Darko and JaVale are both great fantasy value as they can fill several stats columns, JaVale might be better value for things like rebounding as K-Love grabs so many boards for the T-Wolves but Darko might actually have more offensive chances the JaVale.

ajk004ParticipantThe reason Minny is getting alot of talk is that they are close to becoming good. They are not there and won’t be this year, but with a brutal Nov and Dec schedule (look at the number of games, the competition. the number of back to backs and the absence of two day rests) and the injuries they’ve had (Flynn, Webster, Pek, Beasley for a couple games, Ridnour, Telfair is playing hurt, and Ellington) the fact that they have competed at all is amazing. They are young and can’t close out games, but have more or less out played the Bobcats, Spurs and Oklahoma in close loses. No they won’t make the playoffs, but the team was overhauled and looks like it’d be good in 1-3 years.
Darko…I’ve been on hear the last year or so defending Darko. Not the #2 pick Darko, but he servicable center Minny got from the Knicks last year Darko. No he’ll never live up to the pre-draft hype. The hype was crazy as was his potential, but the jury is out on that. He is a defensive anchor covering the butt of a young team with some upside on the offensive end. Will he average 16ppg this year? Probably not, but he doesn’t need to. He sucked and I mean really sucked shooting to start the year as in historically bad, but the coaching staff worked with him on his mechanics and he’d looking good again. What Minny paid $5 million a year for a 3 year deal with a 4th year team option is legit 7 foot rim protector. It’s not an accident that Darko’s leading the NBA in blocks. By year end he’ll likely still be in the top 10. If you’re more a box score guy I think 10 ppg 6-7 boards 2 blocks 2 assists 3.5 TO’s on 45% shooting for the year is the real expectation. He might destroy that, but that’s what Minny was buying at $5 million a year. Do I love that after playing like a bum on the offensive side he’s playing like an all-star in a stretch of 5-6 games? Of course, but what I’m keeping in mind is that he’d played solid D the whole time. This entire year I really only want him to develop on-court chemistry with KLove and Beasley and stay healthy. This year was a throw away before the first whistle sounded for Minny, but Darko was probablly going to be extended for the 4th year of his contract barring injury anyway because offense aside 7′ rim protectors that move their feet are rare at $5 million a year.
